clutch-monkey Posted 22April, 2015 Report Share Posted 22April, 2015 Tip number one: bring the car back in one piece All else is secondary to that haha. Don't feel pressured to be hitting class winning times your first time out. Get a feel for the car at speed and what it can do! And beware the red mist
Mike737 Posted 22April, 2015 Report Share Posted 22April, 2015 You'll be speed limited to 130 from memory on the MSCA 'come n try' days and there's an instructor next to you all day until the last 1 or 2 sessions.
Harvs11 Posted 22April, 2015 Report Share Posted 22April, 2015 Once you have found the lines, try braking a little later, carrying a little more speed and getting on the power a little earlier in each corner. It doesn't always work https://youtu.be/bz470oYyZkU
Airhead Posted 22April, 2015 Report Share Posted 22April, 2015 (PS, can also be worth checking on YouTube for in car track footage just to familiarise yourself before you head out). DJM Posted 24April, 2015 Report Share Posted 24April, 2015 Here's some more sandown footage. If you're wondering why I cruise down the straight, they had a noise meter half way down the main straight so I had to slot 6th and cruise by to avoid being pinged. I'd already had a warning, next time I exceed limit, I'd be kicked off. The Sound is out of whack to vision for some reason, but you get the idea. About 200-210 at the top of the back straight. DJM Posted 24April, 2015 Report Share Posted 24April, 2015 Then, when you get your eye in, you'll want more power so you can do this!! (go full screen HD and turn up the sound - this guy has some skill!). Used to see this car around a bit and it was a jet.

Airhead Posted 25April, 2015 Report Share Posted 25April, 2015 Re the Skyline. Overdriving or drifting? Not nuts - just poor driving at a sprint meeting.
DJM Posted 25April, 2015 Report Share Posted 25April, 2015 Poor driving, how so. It's driven hard and has over 500rwhp and clearly is a bit taily. Masterful driving. This guy has driven sprints, improved production, time attack and Tarmac rally, he knows how to steer.
Airhead Posted 25April, 2015 Report Share Posted 25April, 2015 Esp when he steers it sideways before the corner drift style.
hugh Posted 25April, 2015 Report Share Posted 25April, 2015 Esp when he steers it sideways before the corner drift style. Agree, that's the best bit! He would appear to be having some fun but only when he has the space to do so. If you can't give it the beans on the track where can you, better there than on the road that's for sure! Caver Posted 11May, 2015 Report Share Posted 11May, 2015 On my track days, the instructors said that if your knuckles are white on the wheel and you're swearing as you corner...you're going too hard. Remember it's for FUN!

Pam986 Posted 20June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 20June, 2015 Well it is track day and my lucky number is 419. I was trying to work out how to upload a photo but can't find the option. I actually feel quite calm and very excited about the day. It's a mixed bunch here today and the sun is shining!
