Insurance time has come and gone, however the value of these puppies keeps going and going and going.

Looks like my insurance company only wants to depart with $78K should the worst ever happen to my 993, whilst a couple of the others in the specialised field will go to maybe $90 or $95 at a push...........and at a premium which is nearly double my current insurer.

Current insurer has suggested I have a authorised motor vehicle valuer put a figure on it and they have assured me they will comply with the valuation.

I don't particularly wish to change insurers, so the question begs, does anyone have a recommendation of someone who would be truly familiar with our cars?

Where abouts are you located?  What state?

Mate I just use my business broker and in every case I have just given them my valuation, 964-$75k, 930-$150k. All insured no problem. He might be able to help

This is for renewal's or new policies?  They have no issue with new policies, they have issues I've found with renewal's.  Shannon's weren't too keen when I called and requested to up the cover on my 356 by 50k in 6 months as that's how much I've been told it'd cost to replace.

I think Shannons got burnt on a big $ Porsche a few years ago so they tread lightly from what I gather.

Somebody insured a rare P car for a huge amount, then it had a mysterious fire and they only wanted the pay out.

Not 100% sure but that was the jist of it.

I spoke to Shannons about my car and they spoke to Mark Poole.

Partly they wanted to know if the car was the real thing, but more so they wanted to know if I was the real deal.

Not some fly by nighter looking for a scam.

They have never seen the car either.

Try Rhyno...Shannon's had my 3.2 down for $39k, wanted close to an extra $200 a year to go to $60k

Rang Rhyno, insured it for $65k after and email and a couple of pics, for less that what I was paying Shannon's to insure it for $39k!!!

Had a similar problem with SHANNONS, when I tried to increase the insured value of my car from $35k to $40k, they would only come up to $39K.

Aussie delivered 1987 3.2/G50 in good (driver) condition. I have no idea how much its worth, but I know I couldn't get another one for $39K.

If they wont come to the party @ $65k(seems a fair estimate G5032) Rhyno it is.

My 84 3.2 is insured with Shannon's for $90k at $880

What usage are you on?  And is the car on club plates?

I am really confused!

I wonder if the age of the car makes a difference?  25 years seems to make a difference in terms of club plates, importation of "classic" car.  The 993 is probably still considered modern.

Hi Theo,

Did you end up getting a valuation done? If so, who did you end up using?

I am told I now need one to increase the insurance value of my 930.
