T-Man Posted 29June, 2015 Report Share Posted 29June, 2015 Insurance time has come and gone, however the value of these puppies keeps going and going and going. Looks like my insurance company only wants to depart with $78K should the worst ever happen to my 993, whilst a couple of the others in the specialised field will go to maybe $90 or $95 at a push...........and at a premium which is nearly double my current insurer.Current insurer has suggested I have a authorised motor vehicle valuer put a figure on it and they have assured me they will comply with the valuation. I don't particularly wish to change insurers, so the question begs, does anyone have a recommendation of someone who would be truly familiar with our cars? Shannon's weren't too keen when I called and requested to up the cover on my 356 by 50k in 6 months as that's how much I've been told it'd cost to replace. turboT Posted 29June, 2015 Report Share Posted 29June, 2015 They are a broker. I just get them to go out and get the best price so insurers can change year on year although mostly we re-sign. Had a prang in the 930 a month or go and they sorted out on one quote and paid up no issue.

Shady Speedway Posted 29June, 2015 Report Share Posted 29June, 2015 I think Shannons got burnt on a big $ Porsche a few years ago so they tread lightly from what I gather.Somebody insured a rare P car for a huge amount, then it had a mysterious fire and they only wanted the pay out.Not 100% sure but that was the jist of it.I spoke to Shannons about my car and they spoke to Mark Poole.Partly they wanted to know if the car was the real thing, but more so they wanted to know if I was the real deal. Not some fly by nighter looking for a scam. They have never seen the car either. I have no idea how much its worth, but I know I couldn't get another one for $39K.If they wont come to the party @ $65k(seems a fair estimate G5032) Rhyno it is. D-banger Posted 30June, 2015 Report Share Posted 30June, 2015 My 84 3.2 is insured with Shannon's for $90k at $880 What usage are you on? And is the car on club plates?I am really confused!I wonder if the age of the car makes a difference? 25 years seems to make a difference in terms of club plates, importation of "classic" car. The 993 is probably still considered modern.

If so, who did you end up using? I am told I now need one to increase the insurance value of my 930. Scott
Robert930 Posted 17September, 2015 Report Share Posted 17September, 2015 I would have thought a few screenshots of similar cars to yours for sale right now should be enough to prove the point of replacement value, has anyone tried this approach?
