Hey virgin, I have always had sucess using Gliptone: https://www.liquidleather.co.uk/ I used to get it from UK, but have noticed it's stocked locally now https://louguthry.com.au/products/shop-by-brand/gliptone/ Well, local to me, not sure where you're based

Years gone by, I would always read it's recommended to use a 'cheesecloth' type fabric. Now I just use microfibres for everything - have a whole arsenal of them. Peter M Posted 28May, 2020 Report Share Posted 28May, 2020 Ex Gliptone user but my current favorite is a 50/50 mix of Autoglym Leather Balm and Oakwood Leather Conditioner: https://www.autoglym.com.au/leather-cleaner-balm https://www.oakwoodproducts.com/products/equine/view/oakwood-leather-conditioner/#.Xs9x2TPiu1s I'm planning to try Nivea hand cream once my stock of Autoglym runs out. As for cleaning, I used to use Gliptone but now use steam and microfibre cloths

Not really too brand fussy for applying conditioner etc, as i would just use cheaper microfibres, and probably discard unless I was using the same polish elsewhere. like these: https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/microfibre-economy-cloth.html I use this for to apply spray detailer/wax https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/polish-wipe-cloth.html and one of these for drying after wash https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/microfibre-drying-towel-waffle-weave-extra-large.html

StevepGT3 Posted 28May, 2020 Report Share Posted 28May, 2020 I’ve seen two professional detailers use good old soap and water and a nail brush as the actual cleaner.

Jason E Posted 29May, 2020 Report Share Posted 29May, 2020 I am a massive fan of Gliptone. It does a great job AND smells outstanding after the jobs finished. The other suggestions are probably just as good but Gliptone is pretty RAD.

I'm one notch slightly above that. My goto for nearly everything interior now including leather is meguires all purpose cleaner ( green) concentrate. It used to be about 55 bucks on ebay for 4 litres. I use a 1 to 4 mix with water in a spray bottle. Then it's the knock off generic ebay magic erasers, (100 for about $15 ), horsehair interior detailing brush and a microfiber cloth. First pass on leather seats and it's a slightly damp magic eraser and lots of all purpose spray. The magic eraser absorbs the dirt and I rinse out the eraser with water to remove the dirt as i go along with wiping off the spray with the micro fibre cloth Heavily stained areas and it's harder rubbing with the magic eraser. Then 2 pass is spray again and hard scrubbing with the horseshoe brush and wipeoff with microfibre cloth as you go. Don't be surprised if the magic eraser ls 80% of its original volume when your done and they tear easily. Note the all purpose cleaner is water based and you dont get that oily shine like you get on some products. If your into that shine, probably not the product to try. Yea, they figured out that they can’t get us with $200 for 50 ml jars of face cream( well 90% of us anyway) so they attack us where we are most vulnerable, magical,Expensive car care products for our mistresses.
