Great shot of the arse end. Plates will change eventually, the front and rear impact bumpers will go in favour of IROC replicas as will the rear reflector.

Paintwork - The paint is in fairly good condition but the whole car will be resprayed once the carbon front and rear IROC bumpers and whale tail are fitted.

Whats next

This isn't a car for the purist Porscheophile it is my interpretation of a 911 outlaw and it still has a long way to go.

Next up is a brake upgrade by Promotive and a suspension upgrade and tweaking at Murray Coote.
This will be followed by replacing the front and rear bumper bars with the IROC bars, an IROC whale tail for the track and a full respray and replacing the decals with Porsche script as per the IROC cars.
Finally the engine and trans will get a refresh once they need it with some extra displacement to make things a bit more interesting.

AWESOME car Al! Seriously, a dream project!

Not even a criticism, or a jibe, but in the name of perfection... I can't help but thinking that you could get rid of the "elephant ears", and get the smaller black mirrors that the other car has (and my '75 Carrera) to set off the complete look, but as I said, this is such a small detail on what looks like an amazing car - congratulation Al and welcome aboard!

Firstly thank you all for the warm welcome, wasn't sure whether there was any love for outlaw cars here, :D

Thats Porn.

Me Likey.

Welcome and look forward to more posts!!

That colour is one of my Favourites.

I'll take the rear reflector off your hands!!! let me know!!!

Sure when I do the IROC bumpers and respray the reflector will be going so I'll let you know.

welcome to the forum! great car - hope you can make it to one of the SMT's

Not sure what a SMT is but I haven't explored the forum much so I'm assuming its some sort of get together.

Nice looking car, great attention to detail.

Does the front strut brace come with the mounting plate or is that a custom made piece?

The front strut brace is from Rennline and came with the car when I bought it as did all the other Rennline bits and pieces, the previous owner is th Rennline distributor for Aus/Nz. I just didn't like the brushed aluminium bling look of all the parts so had them all removed and powder coated satin black. The part is available through them and yes it does come with the mounting plate. Info HERE on the Rennline webpage

Random question but were you selling a black uk import car recently?

No, the last car I sold was my VW R32 rally car I used to rally in Targa events to purchase this in October last year to a guy in Adelaide through the QLD Porsche Club magazine / website.

AWESOME car Al! Seriously, a dream project!

You read my mind, I already have them in a box in the spare bedroom / parts storage room. The old ones will come off, the holes will be welded up and the new ones mounted when we respray the car. Incidently the IROC cars only had the one wing mirror but I think I am going to have two.

With regards to the storage, I have a very understanding wife who is into cars and motorsport as much as I am so the taking up a spare room for parts storage isn't an issue..... yet. LOL.

Again thanks to everyone for the warm welcome,

Cheers Al

WOW! That thing is a great looking car. I think I've seen it on Pelican? Anyhow welcome to the forum and I am very much looking forward to more updates.

P.S Love the peddle box.

Sorry missed this in my previous reply, yes car is on Pelican under the same user name.

Michael at Promotive did an amazing job on the pedal box install, the box is adjustable in position from the stock box position to further towards the back of the car for my position.

I'm fairly short and really had to have the seat as far forward as it would go with the stock pedal box to comfortably heel toe, operate the clutch etc but this put my driving position on the wheel way to far forward so Michael made the box adjustable in reach so it can be in my position (further back) or quickly changed (5 mins) to the stock position for taller drivers while at the same time he made a custom quick reease mount for the wheel and spaced it out so it is in the perfect driving position for me now.

I also didn't want to make the car difficult to drive for any friends if we were doing a track day or event and they wanted a drive hence the adjustability of the reach. At the same time he also changed the clutch to hydraulic operation from cable operated and we removed the brake booster (amazing brake feel now) and replaced all the lines in braided, the attention to detail in his work is amazing.

Cheers Al

Sounds Ideal Al. It's one of the very few things that I don't like the feel of on my car. I've made a throttle peddle spacer but you set up sounds much better. Might be my next job to do after I get done adding the turbo.

  • 3 weeks later...

They were originally black centre's when I bought the car. When we were doing the pedal box and other bits and pieces I had them sent off to Melbourne Classic Road and Track who refinished them in RS style. Initally they didn't want to do them as they weren't genuine Fuchs but Michael had a chat to them and they agreed to give it a shot and I think did a fantastic job.

Cheers Al
