Uncle Posted 27May, 2013 Report Share Posted 27May, 2013 LOL Rennsport will cost me more than the fuel and ticket to get there! I am thinking about asking James if I can come and have a closer look at the SC.
sydr Posted 27May, 2013 Report Share Posted 27May, 2013 LOL Rennsport will cost me more than the fuel and ticket to get there! I am thinking about asking James if I can come and have a closer look at the SC. Martin, you really must not do this. Especially, don't look at the wheels. Def not the brakes. And the anti roll bar set up, NO! DO NOT lift the engine cover. While you are not looking at the brakes, keep your eyes off the shocks/springs. JustJames Posted 27May, 2013 Report Share Posted 27May, 2013 And don't look at the seats either, or the groovy Alcantara dash. Nor the shifter. There's a lot there to not look at.

JustJames Posted 27May, 2013 Report Share Posted 27May, 2013 Indeed there is ...me! Sydr's engine uses a Rothsport Racing setup. Their kits are superbly thought out and work straight out of the box. They're not for the faint of wallet, but there's an old adage about what you pay and what you get.

JustJames Posted 28May, 2013 Report Share Posted 28May, 2013 what's the advantage of slide valves there? When they're WFO, slide valves are completely out of the air flow.

_Tony Posted 28May, 2013 Report Share Posted 28May, 2013 What sort of gains would you expect with this mod? say with a stock 993 motor?
clutch-monkey Posted 28May, 2013 Report Share Posted 28May, 2013 When they're WFO, slide valves are completely out of the air flow. ah yep. guessing butterfly valves are better for everything else on a street car?
JustJames Posted 28May, 2013 Report Share Posted 28May, 2013 @clutch-monkey We're fast reaching the limits of my expertise here, but at a guess, butterfly valves are cheaper to manufacture. @aimr75 Subject to the same proviso as per my comment above, I'da thunk that adding a higher performance throttle assembly to an otherwise stock motor would offer minimal advantages on the basis that tuning for performance improvement is all about identifying weak points and improving on them. At some point the weak point becomes the (in)ability to get more air into the engine. At that point, either improve the route that the air takes into the engine, or follow Uncle's approach and force more air in.
