Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

Adam,

I don't mind the earlier ones too but I think it would be best to buy the best condition for the price irrespective of year.

The cheap dealer one looks a can of worms to me.

This one is still my pick: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1990/SSE-AD-3195943/?Cr=11

It been for sale for a while too and suggest the owner may be ready to talk turkey.

As for 928 prices firming, I haven't noticed and still think it's a buyers market despite Tazzie's superhuman efforts of promotion.

I still like the earlier S 4.7 and S3 5.0 and when everything is aligned that will be what I look for.

From when I was serious about buying one 2 1/2 years ago (before shit did happen) to now, prices (well advertised prices) have risen - not by much but a couple/ few thousand (hard to accurately judge as all cars condition is different). I better get in quickish before they really take off..... Better keep talking them down Tazzie  :P

Nice price for any SC coupe. Kms high so you would want some engine work detailed. If I was in the market he would got a call from me.

if it is a local car with matching numbers and if it had recent engine and gbox work and has good PPI and service history, its a bargain at this price, if not, it can become a money pit  .....  considering engine and gbox rebuild at about $25k to $30k ...  and there are few good cars around the $60k range

In other words. AC engines are considered tired by 250-300,000 km and the purchaser should have contingencies for a big $ rebuild , or will be driving the car less and less to stave off the inevitable big bills (Ferrari syndrome!) or will be looking to find a 2nd hand (strong but less tired) unicorn .

I suspect quite a few people get burnt in the emotional turmoil of buying into the brand.

$30k for an engine/box rebuild sounds high! But as a worst case scenario, yes. You'd get most of the money back at sale time if it was done properly though.

Asked the question of Cost at Autohaus the other day. About $12K for 'half' an engine (top), $20K for full, and ends up being around $30k if you also throw in the G-box.

964 C4 for $78,900: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1990/OAG-AD-959254/?Cr=33

Is this the one that was for sale about 18 months ago that Hepcat upset the owner with an assessment of its condition at the time?

Don't mind the colour combination at all. Just need to remove the side sticker though!

Does look nice, agree the Carrera sticker does not suit!

Just a general question , posting pictures of the owners manual including previous owners and their addresses , is there any breach of privacy issue , or not? I can't see it adds anything to the ad.

So if it didn't sell for $58k, I'm not sure why he thinks he will get $65k?

Unless he has worked some magic on it?

Mr T,

what do you mean about the age comment?

might have lost my 'thread' - thought you guys were comparing these two
