Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

Times have changed tassie. You now freeze dry the placenta, turn it into tablets, pop a few and go raving. This very offer (minus the raving) was made to me at 10.30 this morning. WTF?

Another old hat suburban hipster initiative ; go for it and you might even experience quality lactation

WTF indeed

The HOTROD guys are a strong lobby group and were lucky to get govt to allow them to build replicas of pre 1950 built cars... Though there is a clear definition of what these are and PORSCHE ain't on the list.

How are the hot rods affected that someone like Autohaus is pushing out every year - spyder, rsr, rs4 etc etc

Just spoke to the owner. Not sure if he wants to sell or restore. Thinking of 15k but happy to take offers over that (not under).

I'm out as I'm not keen on silent auctions, oh and I'd presume no wovr due to age of vehicle

Correct no WOVR over 30 years old

Okay which one of you nabbed this before I got to inspect it haha

I know a certain member here posted that he looked at it the other day. I wonder if he's added it to his collection?

Cheap as.  Only gripe I can find is that its auto but hey some would have the same gripe if it was manual.

A Vicroads VRE check indicates that ZEH 328 is a 2006 Silver BMW coupe.  I guess the ad is right, it will come with Standard Vic Plates. They just wont be the ones assigned to the car!!

Couple years ago I attempted to buy two chamonix built cars. 1 for a mate 1 for me. He bailed and I I thought I'd bring both in sell one and recoup some cost - no way. Parts car import only.

From when I was trying to figure how to salvage my ' investment' I was advised that ICV was my only means to register...the only issue were they were already built...

Quite a few replicas including 356 that have been from a Rego perspective masquerading as the real deal have subsequently been deregistered.

However there are a few road registered 550 and 904 replicas in Oz , but done along time ago before remaining loop holes closed out.

I had a beer with a bloke named 'acmed the other week who worked with Graeme building these and his 356 replicas and also when he was into NASCAR in the states told me a few good stories and debunked some of the urban myth that surrounds Graeme McRae.

Interesting post. Thanks for posting it. I assumed these would fit into the "done along time ago before remaining loop holes closed out." as they were built in the 1990's. Sounds like other states are a bit more hard core than Queensland in this regard. My car was finished, engineered and registered in 2000 here. I did however, like yourself, try to import built Vintage Speedsters from the US and quickly learned in recent years that was going to happen. In fact the document I read specifically made reference in Porsche replicas.

What can I watch out for? My car is engineered and has been registered for 15 years. Are they going to retrospectively apply new laws to me? I would seriously doubt it. It's a pretty long way from a "rebodied" VW too.

Cal im not suggesting your car will get pinged

Just saying that they have deregistered cars that have had prior full registration. While the issues may differ a little  state to state, im hearing that getting a 356 replica on a shortened pan or a 550 registered is nigh on impossible these days.

ICV is a way to do it...however can also be fraught. if the car is built and or you do not have a build diary and receipts to back up time frmes...computer says no..

No offense intended but authorities can deem a 356 replica a reboded vw

For instance I understand there is a 904 replica in oz...with a 911 VIN

Well it is that, I just meant it's hardly obvious. Some are better than others, but I also understand getting a new one registered now is pretty much impossible. Especially if built overseas. It's pretty silly really.

There is a 904 being constructed in Brisbane right now. Perhaps it's to be a track car.

Also, Sleeping Beauties here have just finished this.

My fave modern Porsche the Sport Classic

Saw one at the Autohaus meet down south last year. A lot of interest around it. Maybe a classic in the making, but a bit fake retro. Had some fun chasing it around the roads near jamberoo. Could have easily taken it (in the 997tt at the time) but it looked like he knew where he was going and the rest of us were impossibly lost.

Scoozie for butting in here, Cal, or anyone else, why would they make it a LHD if its being built from scratch and constructed here?   (re THE OLDTIMER AUSTRALIA)

Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, just wondering what the advantage would be, there obviously is one...I guess..Or is there?

(I love the look of it, at the stage it is at.   apart from the seats..)
