Sam Ball Posted 23October, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 23October, 2015 Some updates from John - wheel hubs and brakes cleaned up and back on. Brakes are 964 sprayed metallic orangeRears need some spacers to bring them out and fill the guards, but looks tough.Brightwork has started to go on - went for a scotchbrite finish which might raise a few eyebrows on here, but love that satin finish.Dash is back in, Chocolate Brown looks great on the fascia against the black - only bummer is John tried an early VDM steering wheel, but the gap between the wheel and the shroud was too big because of the spline set up, so just going for a black anodised momo protipo which I love also, and probably more befitting an outlaw look, but shame cause I do love that old school cross shape. He reckons will be all back together within 3 weeks, then testing for a week or so and then hopefully good to go! hugh Posted 30October, 2015 Report Share Posted 30October, 2015 Interesting that you kept the original door cards + pockets - they always seem to get swapped out for earlier style or RS trims. Looks good!

Sam Ball Posted 2November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 2November, 2015 Langecheck, yes it is a VW lens - saw it on a thread on DDK or Pelican Parts, and John worked out how to do it - here it is on his ST replica he's done - I think you can also get an LED setup for it as well. Sam Ball Posted 4November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 4November, 2015 Raven, only have this one other shot from the rear - but it is tough! Not crazy about the ST front guards usually, but this with the cup wheels and wide rubber fills it nicely I reckon. It was a 964 and he did a hot rod/ST - and looks so good in the flesh. Proportions don't look too right - especially the huge wheels. How does Singer do it so seamlessly??? OT: Sam your car is coming along very nicely!!! LeeM Posted 5November, 2015 Report Share Posted 5November, 2015 .How does Singer do it so seamlessly??? How? LOTS of R n D, and a shed load of cash (well over a million) prior to the first one being built. It'd be interesting to find out if Rob Dickinson had any investors handing over some cash setting up
TE911 Posted 5November, 2015 Report Share Posted 5November, 2015 I think the wide angle lense used in the photos doesn't help.MFX is on the money, its the wide angle lens that makes the rear end look off. You'll need to see it in person to truly appreciate it.Heres another one with Andrewbu's barn find.Picture taken by Andrewbu

I like to shoot cars with wide angle and fisheye lenses, enjoy :-)
MFX Posted 5November, 2015 Report Share Posted 5November, 2015 Great photo's. That orange RSR is pretty much exactly what I am attempting to build myself. And don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a go at the photography, just the straight on side view with the wide lense changes the cars shape a bit so I think that is what made it look a bit different. Sam Ball Posted 6November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 6November, 2015 I haven't seen those Fuchs on the 964 yet - looks tough as - seriously is a very horny looking car in real life!! - thanks for the photos.Agree with the Singer comment though, they aren't just backdating and modifying parts, but totally re-designing just about every aspect - must have cost a lot in R&D to some one.Another group that have come from nowhere is 'Twisted' in the UK - they are doing the Singer thing with Land Rover Defenders - total internal and suspension refurbs and even dropping dirty great V 8's in them - very cool if you haven't seen them - but they just forked out $7m to buy the last 280 Defenders to role of the line to ensure a pipeline of cars for all their orders - how do you get that type of dough as a little cottage industry?
