OZ930 Posted 5December, 2015 Report Share Posted 5December, 2015 The view from overhead. No screws to loosen ??? Found this on Rennlist, hope it helps. You should have the rear of the car raised at least a half a foot off the floor so you can comfortably access the area that you need to get to. You will be under the car so be sure it's properly supported on axle stands, etc. For extra protection leave your floor jack in the raised position under the differential housing. You can do the job by removing either the muffler, or the car's rear valance (lowest body part). After that you will see a heat shield (piece of tin) held in place with five hex-head screws. The screws might be partially hidden, take them out with either a 1/4" drive socket or a small end wrench. The tin is about the same length as the reflector by about 3" wide. Remove that and you will see the fasteners for the reflector. Be advised that those fasteners might break during removal, which means that you will need a replacement reflector. Good luck with it! Hughesy Posted 5December, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 5December, 2015 Yep. That's what I'm thinking. There's gotta be a way to do it successfully. Come on brains trust , man up
MFX Posted 5December, 2015 Report Share Posted 5December, 2015 You need to reach up from under the bumper. They are there, although mine had some double sided tape on it as well, which made it a bit more of a pain.
81SC Posted 5December, 2015 Report Share Posted 5December, 2015 Hughesy,I used a door handle clip removal tool to aid in the removal of my reflector. If you have a thin tool that will slide in-between the reflector & rear panel, that will make it easier to remove. Take your time & work from one side to the other, you will feel the reflector come free from the clips. Only lever on the plastic support around the round pegs. I levered from the top for the top peg & then the bottom for the bottom peg on each support. You can see the top of the supports in your photo. There were no screws holding on my reflector.Tool I used.Reflector supports with 2 pegs each.My 1981SC reflector with 5 support areas & 2 pegs each, the 3 centre supports are the ones you see broken or dislodged from the reflector. Tit Posted 16January, 2016 Report Share Posted 16January, 2016 I don't know about the older cars, but the 964 didn't get built with the fender antenna. That was done at local dealerships; so I'm planning to fill mine eventually. Is it the same for pre-1989 cars?

Hughesy Posted 16January, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 16January, 2016 Yes that's what I thought. The aerial is locally sourced but I could be a replacement. I've got a new screen with inbuilt aerial
Hughesy Posted 17January, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 17January, 2016 I took the 964 for a drive today out along cottage point and finally down to church point for lunch brilliant day. on the way I passed three other air cooled Porsches, they all waived Now here's the problem, I passed something that looked just like this That got me thinking about colour selection for the unicorn. I'm usually the one to go factory original but that colour just popped out at me so I've been looking at colour charts and there in lies another problem they all look so good. decisions decisionsHell where do I go from here the more I look the harder it gets. my head says keep it original but the old ticker is playing games with me
