Lothar Posted 14August, 2016 Report Share Posted 14August, 2016 Hi,My 911 turbo is up on car sales but I thought I would share it here as well. Australian delivered. Log books from new. Exceptional condition.I am selling my baby as I have 4 cars and after 3 good years and a lot of love and attention, it is time for it to go as I have 4 cars and I run to work and only have a 1 car garage. I have unwittingly started a hot hatch collection as I also own a modified MK5 Golf Gti, Peugeot 205 Gti and a Alfasud Ti QV I am restoring with a mate on weekends. The Porsche is a beautiful car and I have replaced the hydraulic rams for the rear spoiler ($3K), painted the front bumper and had the at risk areas of the car wrapped in clear film, had the hard seat backs and centre console painted in body colour, spent many hours cleaning the leather and polishing the paint work with swissvax, serviced it regularly, changed the tyres, replaced the exhaust with a speedtech system (the factory exhaust will go with the car), etc.The best bit though has been taking it for drives in the mountains...but you guys know that.http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-2000/SSE-AD-4184368/?Cr=0If you are interested, please send me a PM or ring me on 0400 930 886. The car is in Brisbane.

JLD Posted 14August, 2016 Report Share Posted 14August, 2016 I learnt to drive in a red 83 Ti Sud, loved that car but it rusted so badly. Also the breathers blocked so it basically died a slow rotting death. It was a hoot to drive though, I'd love another one day
Lothar Posted 14August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 14August, 2016 Probably the wrong forum but the Sud was designed by an ex Porsche engineer and does have a flat four and disc brakes all round!!I bought it from an old man who owned it for 17 years and was going into a retirement home. The last 10 years of his ownership it just stayed in his garage. I have been working on it for the last 14 months on the weekends and totally stripped it - engine, exterior trim and interior out. Surprisingly no rust! The former owner had fixed it up in the late 90 and had the rust repaired. It is now a couple of months away from getting back on the road and will be in as new condition. edgy Posted 15August, 2016 Report Share Posted 15August, 2016 Nice TT, that won't last long! We also have a Sud that we are going to be restoring.
Lothar Posted 15August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 15August, 2016 Thanks, I like your fleet! In nearly a couple of weeks on car sales I have had over 300 detailed views but zero calls ☹️I think the price is fair given Australian delivery, kms and condition or am I missing something?Maybe the Porsche market is slowing the the rest of the economy. Jkay Posted 15August, 2016 Report Share Posted 15August, 2016 Cars like this always just take awhile as they're such a niche. That and the fact you're a private seller will make it take longer (slme people need to trade a vehicle in, want in house finance etc)it will go eventually, just a matter of when. Be warned about those that will come and tell you it's worth $10k and that's all they're willing to offer you
JLD Posted 16August, 2016 Report Share Posted 16August, 2016 Be warned about those that will come and tell you it's worth $10k and that's all they're willing to offer you tell them it's a fair deposit and ask when they'd like to pay the balance
1q2w3e4r Posted 16August, 2016 Report Share Posted 16August, 2016 Looks like an awesome example. Re price, only you can determine that.A mate of mine bought the grey manual turbo from TAS that was for sale for a while with 47k on the clock and paid less than your asking so don't be surprised if people come in at low(er) numbers. That said there aren't a lot of manual's for sale and they'll always require a premium over the tippers.
Lothar Posted 16August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 16August, 2016 Thanks for the advice. I agree, it is just a matter of being patient as it is a small target market and only a limited number of cars to chose from. I am not going to give it away as I am have over serviced it and really looked after it. It's like giving one of your children away but sooo much harder! t888 Posted 17August, 2016 Report Share Posted 17August, 2016 IMO the "sell quickly" price for a 996 turbo manual is in the low 90's.

Lothar Posted 17August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 17August, 2016 I am sure it would sell quickly if the price was low 90s! Lol

smit2100 Posted 22August, 2016 Report Share Posted 22August, 2016 ^ Smit have have some input with regard to that revelation..!?The photo below was lifted off the RSR Brighton Meet thread and was taken on 21st August.I have it on good authority , the speedo on that car was close to clicking over 62k, it was a 2003 model and Porsche Melbourne said the only thing wrong with it when it went in for a major service at 62k was a torn bump stop. It too has Porsche dealer servicing up to 50k. and independent Porsche specialist services between 50 to 62k every 6 months. +1 on the call in the 90's for a pre 2003 for a quick sale, but Porsche service manager today said 996 tt's they have increased in value and his clients are insuring them for up to 130k. But insuring and selling are two different thingsExample below was advertised as stock, except found out at the meet / today it has a gemballa shortshifter. The car below is now sporting some subtle mods to sort out a few stock issues, and comparing the advertised price of the car being commented on in this thread, , still change left after taking the car below in stock guise, , sticking a kline exhaust with 100 cell hjs cats, cobb tune and purchasing all the bits in readiness to sort out the stock 4x4 look in the picture eg (ohlins R&T coilovers ,gt3 rear adjustable sway bar, tarret adjustable sway bar links and adjustable rear toe links and 996gt3 lower adjustable control arms all round should sort out the 4x4 look and allow a more aggressive gt2 type setup and remove the floating boat feel of the aged stock suspension ). Each to their own, but for 115k, I know which car I would prefer. That said, some 996tt owners would be happy to see a pre 2003 model go for 115k. Lothar Posted 22August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 22August, 2016 I am sure there are cheaper 996TTs that have been sold.I am also sure there have been more expensive 996TTs sold. I put this car up as I thought a member might be interested.I can only speak about the condition of my car which has full log book history and has never been in an accident. I have owned and over serviced for 3 years and it drives absolutely magnificently (it does not have "floating biat feel of aged stock suspension" as it has bilstein suspension).I am not after a quick sale, I am after a sales that reflects what I think its value is. If it does not sell I will just keep it.

Mike-S Posted 23August, 2016 Report Share Posted 23August, 2016 Friend here in Melbourne has a 205GTi with the Mi16 engine, bought it last year from Adelaide. Body and interior are a bit scruffy but jaysus does it shift. Big difference between it and my old 1.9GTi that's for sure.
Lothar Posted 23August, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 23August, 2016 Yes, the 205s were not the best for build quality but certainly are a lot of fun given the weigh less than 900kgs, have the 1.9L and aggressive gear ratios.I bought one new in 1989 so it is a bit of fun to own one again but cars have come a long way in that time!! Still, it makes me giggle every time I hop in. Models with Mi16s, GTi6 and turbo motors must really be a hoot!
symsy Posted 23August, 2016 Report Share Posted 23August, 2016 The definitive PUG thread ..did they have Mi16s and Turbos in Aus then? Or is this after market… I also want to know where do you get Golf GTI… why on earth those didnt hardly get down under I will never know. They were the death nail to the Escort
