symsy Posted 8August, 2017 Report Share Posted 8August, 2017 The spirit cars have sat around that price for sometime , the black car defnately not a bargain. The other thing with these cars regardless of kms is that they are 15 years old now and they do need maintenance and engines checked and possibly pulled down..which aint to be ignored. Along with the electrical birdsnest issues and possibility of some crispy vacuum hoses in the harness at that age..Gotta love those red seats though and the do scream nice at those higher revs a bit like a GT3 really @DJM have you spent that cash yet.. You know I vote for those GRP4 EscortsCome on man you have teased us for nearly a week.. How about a Meganne Trophy R

DJM Posted 8August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 8August, 2017 ^^ ok you're egging me on to keep this thread going so.....Today I drove the black RX7 spirit R type B (ie Touring, cushy seats not type A 2 seater with Recaro buckets). Very clean original car, fastidious owner who lived in Japan for 4 years and bought from first owner and imported 4 years ago, motor rebuilt locally, low kms, available for $45k which seems to be the going rate. He's got a few runners on it at that price. Good buy if you want one. So? ........no deal- tiny cabin, much smaller than I thought but kind of cockpit cool, a few annoying squeaks and rattles but the main issue is they are bloody lethargic below 4000rpm and not that strong above 4000rpm. Hmm, no deal, I didn't mind it but it didn't excite me, at all. A bit too jap normal for me. I better go and change the thread title, RX7 is out. i also did some homework on that 20B monster. Owner says Promaz built it and would be happy to engineer and RWC it. Spoke to Promaz, they confirmed was OVER $100k to build, no expense spared, full on build front to back. Build cost is on top of a $45k clean spirit R BUT.......way too crazy to to be able to be engineered and no way they would issue a RWC. Only way is to find a dodgy RWC guy or someone with no idea that picks normal stuff and ignore the 700hp engine. No thanks for all sorts of reasons. Would be a storming track car if you gutted it.so back to the drawing board......or back to Carsalesescorts are cool but can't come at 85-100kmegane and focus don't fit the brief of lightweight RWDexige maybe but would need a Honda engine not the torque void Toyota or even worse rover engineDare I say GT3 Touring.......? Jesus at this rate I'll be too old to drive by the time I make my mind up. Maybe I need that new Gran Tourismo game instead

DJM Posted 8August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 8August, 2017 Would you consider a GT4? maybe, bit concerned where values are going, I reckon a 997.1 GT3 will ultimately hold its value better, they're not far apart on price right now. Has to be a Clubsport though?https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-Cayman-2015/SSE-AD-4283584 Check out this Porsche Cayman.https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-Cayman-2016/OAG-AD-14983117that looks great, half way house with 918 seats but not clubsport. tazzieman Posted 8August, 2017 Report Share Posted 8August, 2017 To keep the peace,if it isn't a Porsche, I'm not interested in the slightest. This is a PORSCHE FORUM, .... I hate reading about any other brand of car on here, especially Jap cars, Mercedes and BMW's, The old one about is a 924 a real Porsche? Mine was absolutely littered with VW and Audi bits !Merc 500E "The 500 E was created in close cooperation with Porsche; each 500 E was hand-built by Porsche, being transported back and forth between the Mercedes plant and Porsche's Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen"Porsche is just a name But you see your honour , I have proved the case that you like Mercs and even a little bit of Audi & VW.Same bed , and they're all taking turns farting

Hope those apex seals last the distance.?Not quite Porsche crazy but prices are lifting for the last of the line RX7s. Outta my system now, next.By the way, you seem to be keenly following the RX7s on Carsales......what's that about? Something you're not disclosing? DJM Posted 11August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11August, 2017 I did send that WRX guy a message but no response - comments on FB suggest it sold immediately. Get that on road reg and I'd be happy.that yellow Zetec escort looks nice but i really struggle to see 70-100k for these. And probably look like a bit of a dick running around in that on weekends,I like this look on a Cayman, this particular one seems to have been around a while now. It's only got a set of wheels and lowered but looks so much better than stock. Maybe it has an exhaust too. If so all that's left is to add some decent seats and steering wheel and go GT3 lite. Would be plenty of accessible fun for $50-60k? https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-Cayman-2006/OAG-AD-7067734

DJM Posted 11August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 11August, 2017 A nicely setup Cayman would be very hard to beat. Do it! I'm liking the idea, no mega dollar car to pamper. Mod it as I choose. Lighten and tighter and amp up the volume. Fun without silly speed on road. Right back to the Cayman hotrod thread from a while back!
