cafe_racer Posted 20January, 2020 Report Share Posted 20January, 2020 Looks great! Ride height looks pretty spot on. Well done on the suspension refresh. I am still awaiting the KW V3's so will report back soon hopefully on how that goes.

Hey, what paint did you use? the 1st one was VHT chassis paint - touch dry quicker but not as nice a finish as this (from Bunnings) but it did take a bit longer to cure. DD911 Posted 13February, 2020 Report Share Posted 13February, 2020 Love this thread... Who is the go to person in Melbourne for all things suspension & wheel alignment? Suspension refresh is well overdue on my 77'
Merv Posted 13February, 2020 Report Share Posted 13February, 2020 Well done on the control arms. Always best to strip them back and paint before indexing and refitting with the new bushes. I just did two friends' late IB cars with the same process. Not sure what those rear control arm bushes are. I usually use rubber Prekom or ER. My paint chemist friend always tells me that the best paint is usually the slowest drying. More elastic and less likely to flake and chip. Harsh Posted 27August, 2023 Report Share Posted 27August, 2023 Been a year since the last post and I am looking at a suspension refresh soon. It seems most members are happy with the ER Restoration for Street. Is that still the current/most popular view.

Sent my bilsteins "yellow sports" off for a rebuild.. curious to see the results of rebuild as opposed to new replacement. Control arm bushings are the hard rubber Prekom (from James at Autohaus) ... I just had a look at the prekom website and looks like they provide 3 versions - std, 20% stiffer, and then "racing"... stock - https://www.prekom-usa.com/product/porsche-911-914-control-arm-bushings-set/ sport - https://www.prekom-usa.com/product/porsche-911-914-control-arm-bushings-set-75-shores/ racing - https://www.prekom-usa.com/product/porsche-911-914-control-arm-bushings-set-racing/ Turns out that Autohaus sent me the racing version! Also replacing ball joints and tie rod ends. Aiming to eliminate a shimmy in the steering wheel which is noticable above 100kmh and gets worse the faster you go.
