Jkay Posted 17June, 2021 Report Share Posted 17June, 2021 https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36731909/2022-porsche-911-gt3-california-ban-manual-transmission/ Looks like the 992 GT3 manual won’t be allowed in California due to noise regulations, and owners will have to switch to PDK instead. Sounds mad, and I never realised having a manual transmission made your car that much louder I’d certainly be unhappy if my name were down for a 992 GT3/Touring A bit on why below https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a36741701/porsche-911-gt3-manual-fails-californias-noise-test/ DJM
Raven Posted 17June, 2021 Report Share Posted 17June, 2021 From what I have read so far the new 992 car is louder than the previous 991.2 due to the ITB intake system and pretty low restriction exhaust system when the valves are fully opened , dont believe that make any difference with manual or PDK , but this video is a good example of the glorious sound it makes .... Jason A Posted 18June, 2021 Report Share Posted 18June, 2021 I friend had to modify the std exhaust on a 991 GT3 RS to run at Laguna Seca in US - std car exceeds the track limit. Its a bloody race track FFS luzzo and Naldz88 1
edgy Posted 18June, 2021 Report Share Posted 18June, 2021 That doesn’t seem very “inclusive” like California pertains to be!

With a manual the testing specifies a particular gear and RPM whereas the 'Auto' test is not carried out in the same gear. 9fan Posted 2July, 2021 Report Share Posted 2July, 2021 The governments are just pushing the agenda for electric vehicles, maybe why the windfarm is at the track to supply the next gen race cars where noise won't be an issue - how exciting - NOT !
