Orion03 Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 I am going to look at a 997 tomorrow. Now... it's a dealer, and I'll probably buy the 5 year warranty from them, Do I need to get a PPI ? Thanks.
Uncle Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 I would still get one but from an independent. Agreed that the extra warranty is a good idea.

Caver Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 Is it a specialist Porsche Dealer? I probably wouldn't bother if the service history was good, but if it's from another dealer, then definitely.
T-Man Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 I would get a PPI regardless of who I bought it from. Some of the warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.
Orion03 Posted 23August, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 It's Lorbek luxury cars.
Jimmy Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 It's Lorbek luxury cars. Don't buy the warranty. like Theo said not really worth it at all, especially their warranty which I believe is call Notianal or something like that. Do a google search on and you'll change your mind quick smart. Definitely a PPI if you are buying from these guys. Have it done at Auto Art in Preston. Harvs11 Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 Some good advice above. An independent ppi is essential. When does the factory warranty run out on a 997? Statutory warranty from a dealer only covers basic roadworthy stuff and major mechanical failures. You wont have a choice of repairer if something does go bang. A seller will always tell the good stuff and may not not know the full history of a car. A detailed ppi is good peace of mind. it will also give you an idea of neglected or upcoming service items. Good luck.
Uncle Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 Yeah I thought it was the factory extended warranty. As others have said anything else is not worth the paper it's printed on.
T-Man Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 I thought that Lorbek used Auto Art for some of their work?I may be wrong.

T-Man Posted 23August, 2013 Report Share Posted 23August, 2013 Phil runs a very good shop. Darren normallly looks after the later cars. They are very thorough and passionate about what they do.Most importanly, they are very trusting and easy to do business with.
withers Posted 24August, 2013 Report Share Posted 24August, 2013 Yeh google those third party warranties. The one Lorbek sells isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I was horrified when seeing just how many complaints are on the net about that National one. From what I know, only some dealers can even buy a factory official Porsche warranty once the car is out of the original warranty period. You either buy a cheaper car via private or non-P dealership OR buy a car from a P dealer and pay extra for that luxury which includes a real warranty. PPI unless its from a Porsche dealer I say. It gives you peace of mind You really have to quiz these dealers on these warranties. I was told I could get a Porsche one, only to find out it wasn't a P one at all. They really do try it on. ByronBayChris Posted 25August, 2013 Report Share Posted 25August, 2013 And maybe someone tell lorbek to photograph their cars with the camera straight. I can't look at their ads at all, even though they do have some nice stock
