Hey mate,

Engine isn't stock already and only has 20k on it so no upgrades for awhile from where it is now which is.

  • Balanced Crank and Rods
  • Matched Pistons
  • Camshafts 993 Porsche Cup spec grind

Once we finish this round of all new brakes, suspension work and the other bits and bobs it will be onto the body and paint once the budget recovers.

So the plan is to collect all the parts for the IROC body work, including the bumpers and tail, new front mount oil cooler, new headers and exhaust for the rear IROC bumper and all the trim pieces etc and either re-anodise  all the metal trim pieces or replace with new, replace the mirros with the IROC flag style and few special parts for the windows and trim and then a full respray.

After that while the budget recovers again I'll drive it for a couple of years and then we'll work on either a 3.6 or 3.8 and maybe a G50 but that is a long long way down the track unless I win lotto tomorrow :-)

Cheers Al

nice! that work and the exhaust sound like enough go to keep you happy awhile.

if it comes down to it i probably wouldn't worry about a G50 in front of the 3.6 when you get to that stage :)

Thanks guys, just can't wait to get it back and drive it for awhile and of course bring it out to a cars n coffee or drive day and show you guys everything in person.

Just letting Michael do his thing and he'll call when he's happy it's ready for me to pick up :)

A couple of small little things I'm really looking forward to seeing when they're done but he really is being a bugger when it comes to showing me anything as he doesn't want to ruin the reveal.

If anyone has been round there lately then you've seen more than I have.

EDIT: I've just gotten word we are just going to wet blast the fan and housing a clear coat them as the housing fins are damaged so it wouldn't be worth coating it. Should still look brilliant in the natural Magnesium and we can get a new housing and ceramic coat them when we upgrade the engine at a later stage.

Cheers Al

Clutch. How does the powder coating hold up. My mechanic tried to tell me it chips and falls off?

The power coating is electrically bonded to the surface , so I think it's designed to be more resistant to stone chips than paint. But yes, is if it's hitting something so it can chip you've got a lot more issues!

There is still more stuff I want to do, just found some wicked headlights like the Singer ones but I need more cash first :-)

Sorry I'll be done soon, promise.

Al,

Where did you get the floor boards made? I'm struggling to find the Rennline ones (plenty around for LHD cars though) and apparently they don't make them any more.

Will the Tilton pedal box work with the standard master cylinder etc?

Hi mate,

Michael from Promotive Engineering who looks after the car here in Brisbane for me fabricated the drivers side one when he built and installed the pedal box, it's custom fit to the pedals.

The car used to have the Rennline drivers side one and Rennline pedals in the car but they're just in a box here now in my spare parts bedroom.

The passenger one was originally a Rennline one as well, not sure if Michael replaced and fabricated that one as well or just had it powder coated satin black, to be honest I can't remember.

I only have the old drivers side Rennline one here so I think he probably just had the passenger side one powder coated when everything was out for the interior re-trimming.

The previous owner of the car who is a mate was the Rennline agent for Australia and NZ so all the bits were on the car when I purchased it although I just hated the aluminium bling so had them all powder coated. I've got pics on the PC of how the car looked when I bought it from Craig with the parts in the original aluminium finish if you'd like to see them.

Pelican Parts stock and sell all the Rennline stuff if you need things or you can order straight from Rennline as Craig moved to NZ and I don't think is selling the stuff down here any more.

Not sure if you're in Brisbane but if you are you're welcome to make me an offer on the drivers side one and pedals, unfortunately I've just started a new position so I don't have the time right now to pack them up and ship them anywhere but I might around the end of July or August sometime when things settle down a bit if you're still looking for one. But if you're in Bris or have someone here who can pick them up and ship them to you then make me an offer. Let me know and I'll try and get some pics of what I have laying around in the parts bedroom.

Cheers Al

Hey Cal,

I think Michael is still waiting on the Zuffenhaus brakes to arrive from the UK, so not sure if it'll be ready in time, fingers crossed.

Will be there in Marti's car if not but would prefer the old one.

You beat me by nearly 2 months.

Looking good Al. Will it be ready for Cars & Coffee?

Thanks Al

I agree black looks much better. Unfortunately neither pelican nor rennline have a pair for rhd cars.

If I can't come up with an alternative I might make you an offer and get a LH side one fabbed up

The Zuffenhaus brakes have arrived from Twinspark Racing in the UK but all I got was a pic of this lousy box

Michael is being a right bugger and not sending me any pics of them other than this tease picture and then saying "I might send a photo through when I open the box. Or then again I might not"

LOL

Anyway they are here and for those waiting for their spot in the queue to get into Michael's shop it shouldn't be long now.

Oh wait!! we have an update, 8 hours later another pic has come through and I've been told I get a pic of a calliper, one a day he said LOL
