The red series 1 1984 manual advertised for so long at $33,900 is now showing as "sold".

I wonder how much it actually sold for? I can't believe anywhere near the asking price, but then, who knows?

What's next, the $58k red early Turbo? Maybe the uber-rare "guards red" attracts a $20K premium after all... ;)

1989 Porsche 944 S2 Manual

I couldn't help myself and spoke to the owner, he is a Porsche guy and seems a very nice fella from my conversation with him, it's on historic rego and has a full service history, original paint with the addition of some patina, needs a belt service, apart from that i don't think it needs anything else.

looks exactly like my old 944 S2 from over 10 years ago.

I still see it getting around my suburb in perth - still with the 944SZ plates

Is the one you see around your suburb this specific car that sold or a different one? Care to put me in touch with the owner if it's a different red S2... ?

no its a different car.

exactly the same spec tho- i have photos of it when i owned it 13 years ago. It was near mint back then, all original paint, manual black porsche logo interior.

some people in the wa porsche club might remember the car. When Ive seen it getting around my area it still looked awesome, if I get a chance i will talk to the driver.

I sold it for $24k i think it was back then = still had the funky double din factory stereo installed

Still has original tyres from 1988. That would be fun.

Oh well, at least the timing belt doesn't need replacing for another 40-odd thousand kms(!).

I find this all a bit sad, actually.

Meanwhile, closer to home, the white 86 NA with the S2/Turbo nose and wonky headlights, and what looked like rust damage in the rocker panels is now reportedly sold. It had been advertised at $22.5K.

20 february a 1987 944 turbo was listed, $23,500,  I called within 4 hours of it and Michael from Lane Cove said he was expecting a deposit later that day from someone in SA.

I said if it falls through give me a call.

Well today at noon he sent me a message, asking if I was still interested. I sent a message to him that I would call back in an hour.

It was sold by then.

Sounds like the engine work would need doing sooner rather than later.

Still, if you were able to do some of the work yourself to defer the cost, it might still be an attractive proposition...
