Coastr Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 The photo album showed before , during and after pics. IMO mandatory for future provenance value of such a comprehensive job. Oh, so they were broken before the engine was rebuilt. Sorry, thought it was after the rebuild. Just ting to determine if you can visually tell broken studs. Just ting to determine if you can visually tell broken studs. After the rebuild this engine is very very strong Broken studs drop out after removing the lower valve covers , after all they are broken and gravity makes them fall. D-banger Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 The white 964 at AutoHaus is deposit taken, same day it was listed on carsales Crazy times. When everyone is buying, isn't that the time to start selling? Except that out P cars are not investments.
DJM Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 The white 964 at AutoHaus is deposit taken, same day it was listed on carsales Wow it sold only a few months ago and from memory was at low 70s (go back a few pages in this thread, around march), now it comes back on market at 80k and sells immediately. 964 C2s are heading north rapidly toward 80k+ as 996GT3s are heading down into $80k range. Fascinating. Nice work to anyone who bought a 964 C2 any time recently for 60k ish.........like the guy who bought mine.....ahem, yep. Coastr Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 LHD converted, broken head studs...anyone looking for a project? $22k http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coolum-beach/cars-vans-utes/1977-porsche-911-coupe/1051753496
Uncle Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 is it a 3.3 or the 3.0L do you know? If it's a 3.3 it'd be a bargain If it was a 930 it would be a bargain. It's a 911 hotrod. I'm fine with that, well no I'm all about that but after talking to Martin when it first came onto the market and as I've said before. No matter how well put together it is it's the sum of it's parts. For me that sum is sub 40k seeing it still has stock SC brakes not 930 jobbies. The day it drops under 40k I'll call him again..

Russ Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 I did see that today, and I did consider it! Something very not right with the pedals though. unless they took it down I can't see a pic of the pedals - if it's a conversion they could've made their own set of RHD ones by heating and bending the old ones lol (I know a guy who drove round Australia in a VW 181 with exactly that) 4 head studs pulled on a 2.7 - so it'll be a full engine rebuild and you might not even be able to use the case IAM_911
SteamWolf Posted 16July, 2014 Report Share Posted 16July, 2014 I swear there was a pic of the pedals on that ad. One metal serrated pad (clutch) and one rubber (brake), and the angle of the clutch pedal was a bit odd. Maybe I saw it on another car sale site, or it was taken down? Russ Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 very nice, and it was all going well until I saw the decklid and rear bumper and where's the side mouldings, and the rear valance? oh, and that targa roof doesn't look 'fully restored' but the engine looks neat so does under the bonnet. although i'm curious about the missile switch

Cal Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 Here is an example of how crazy things have got in recent years. In 2008 this running, but in need of resto 73 911S was for sale for $33K. http://bringatrailer.com/2014/07/15/bat-exclusive-1973-porsche-911s-sunroof/ Now restored it is going up for auction a Gooding’s next month. Estimate $275-300K. http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1973-porsche-911-2-4-s-3/ Ok so the resto probably cost $100K, but still mental appreciation. tazzieman Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 very nice, and it was all going well until I saw the decklid and rear bumper Agree. I would body colour for sure and pop a valance on. Otherwise all the hard work has been done. The question is , what value do you place on originality in a mid year IB car? If I was looking for a targa , I'd give this a serious look. I think though the specialised work reduces the potential buying audience. It does look like a well sorted vehicle that you couldn't reproduce using external labour for that price. Mike D'Silva Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 Here is an idea... maybe we should start a lotto syndicate (not sure if I am using that term correctly)... each week we all chip in and by some tickets. When (not if) we win, we divvy it up..... If we win big, we can all buy longhoods and 964C2's for ourselves. Who's in??
tazzieman Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 If we win big, we can all buy longhoods and 964C2's for ourselves. Long odds for longhoods , lol! A kidney is worth 30-40k on the topshelf Indian market , as I'm sure has been suggested/considered before. Or marry an ugly old duchess for a while. It's usually the other way around , but needs must.

Coastr Posted 17July, 2014 Report Share Posted 17July, 2014 The comments at the Bring a Trailer site are hilarious. $33k for a purple rusty Porsche, no way! It's going to cost you $50k to fix this thing. What, is someone going to pay 100 grand!?!? It's very hard to make predictions - especially about the future.
