tazzieman Posted 15May, 2014 Report Share Posted 15May, 2014 Somewhere there is a thread for P car ads , and over the years Porsche has been guilty of a few "oh dear" efforts. But this is the non-Porsche section. See if you can top this shocker from British Leyland in the 70s

BAFE Posted 15May, 2014 Report Share Posted 15May, 2014 Its hard to go past Australia's own supercar! the scariest part is that a whole room of people sat around a table after watching it and said "yes that is a great ad" There again it could be the same people that built the sucker as well.... webrest Posted 16May, 2014 Report Share Posted 16May, 2014 Its hard to go past Australia's own supercar! Had two of the things, both of them new back in the 80's as company cars, one of the was even beige. Worst new cars that I have ever been involved with. The company would not accept the fact they were garbage and backed up and bought them for a second time. One of the cars in the fleet broke down 16 times before they finally got rid of it, Mainly boiling They were almost as defective as a new Porsche today. One in the fleet even caught fire. Just think its taken 35 years or so for Porsche to catch up. And they think that they are innovators I put together an analysis for the company to point out just how bad they were but it was rejected and they still bought them for the second time. Why they never bought Toyotas I will never know I'm sure the Holden salesman was related or had serious photos of one of the directors.

Coastr Posted 16May, 2014 Report Share Posted 16May, 2014 I actually remember both the Meteor and Camira ads. How sad is that. For a modern effort, you can't top that ridiculous ad where that woman from Sex and the City was driving the Nissan Tiida over speed bumps and having an orgasm. I mean, Nissan had the Pulsar for what, 20 years? And then they changed the name, got some TV tart to get her rocks off for an advertising campaign and sales sank like a rock. I think they have humbly re-introduced the Pulsar name again, but by now, everyone with a Pulsar traded onto something else. Again....a group of people sat around in an office and congratulated themselves for their genius before releasing that.
JustJames Posted 16May, 2014 Report Share Posted 16May, 2014 ... Again....a group of people sat around in an office and congratulated themselves for their genius before releasing that. There's a game I like to play whenever I see a truly awful ad. Ask yourself how bad must the 2nd placed ad have been...

tazzieman Posted 16May, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 16May, 2014 More terrible! Pushing the boundaries of what's allowed on public forums. But young people must know about bad stuff that happened in the past. And still happens.

Yeah, maybe if it had a 350hp turbo engine. Or if it was actually a cool car. The worst - 1973 Falcon & Escort ad. The best by a mile - Hey Charger!
