Niko Posted 18May, 2014 Report Posted 18May, 2014 R.IP Sir Jack. You proudly trailblazed Australia onto the world stage in MotorSport. World Champ 1959 1960 1966. Well done Sir Jack, one of my hero's. Photo taken at Phillip Island in March this year...
Chris-p Posted 19May, 2014 Report Posted 19May, 2014 A very sad day. Was with Niko when he took the above photo. Sir Jack was not looking all that good but was still making himself available for everyone. An Australian Icon. A few of us have been very lucky to get close to his 66 championship winning car and to see what he was driving and the lack of any sort of safety features the guy was fearless.... A lifetime hero of many us. c
edgy Posted 19May, 2014 Report Posted 19May, 2014 Just heard this too. No mention of cause, but I hope he went peacefully: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/motorsport/sir-jack-brabham-dead-20140519-zrgoj.html May he rest in peace
tazzieman Posted 19May, 2014 Report Posted 19May, 2014 Is this still at the MCG? It was very cool to get up close to this coffin on wheels. Those old time racers were truly brave.

NiX Posted 19May, 2014 Report Posted 19May, 2014 Lucky enough to meet Sir Jack at the first Bahrain GP when I was working for Jag. He came in the kitchen had a chat with me for half an hour or so. First person to win a world title in a car he constructed, got to admire that. Such a kind & gentle man.. RIP
