Uncle Posted 22May, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 22May, 2015 Won't really have time mate. I'm heading up Thursady, Wedding Friday and heading back on the Saturday. I'm only bringing it because Phil asked to use it as a wedding car. Otherwise I'd be pulling the motor out this wwekend and I'd fly up.

Uncle Posted 26May, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 26May, 2015 Gear turned up from the states today. A lot of money for such a small box lol. Happy with the Clewett crank pulley and trigger wheel. Has some nice clear ZL1 and advance markings on it. Not as bling as a D-zug pulley but I can live with that. The rest of the stuff is also good quality CNC milled stuff. Also nice to see they supply not just the female plug side but the male side too. Russ SMS’ed me to say the cams should be here later this week. I’ll have to get hold of a 930 workshop manual at some point to work out what gasket’s I’ll need for the cam swap. In reality that wont happen till I do the EFI swap. I also like to have an actual book I can keep in the shed and not have to worry about getting greasy paw marks on it. I’ve also got a couple of Bosch 044 Motorsport pumps on the way. I’m unsure if I’ll do a whole new fuel system or use the factory one. Factory will save me a few bucks but may not flow quite enough. Whitehorse also called to say my wheels have been started but progress was slow at the heat treatment sub-contractors. I need to drive it to a wedding very soon so I’m hoping I can get them sorted soon.
Uncle Posted 30May, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 30May, 2015 Did some work today/tonight. We welded on the new turbo flange, gate flange, gate dump pipe flange, made a new up pipe for intercooler and added 15mm to the drip tank pipe because the compressor housing is now too big to fit the Fabspeed drip tank. Luke I am your father. Andy hard at work.

Tit Posted 30May, 2015 Report Share Posted 30May, 2015 So, is this single turbo? Does that mean its all mounted up asymmetricly? Would there be different back pressures on the exhaust ports? Or is it far enough 'downstream' to not matter?
Uncle Posted 30May, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 30May, 2015 Yep single. Turbo and motor don’t really care for equal length headers. Sure there is a little power to be found from them but then how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? One of the reasons WRX’s sound like they do it because of unequal length primary headers. Uncle Posted 8June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 8June, 2015 More fab work today to get the turbo to fit. Took a little tin cutting and bending but we got there. Gate was no dramas at all. This intercooler fitting might look simple but it has 11ty complex bends and shapes to it and took hours to get right. I spent ages with a small file getting it juuuust right before my mate Andy tig’ed it all together for me. Added some length to the compressor housing to make life easier and reduce the need for silicon joiners. How it should look on the car.

Uncle Posted 12June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 12June, 2015 Had to make a new oil feed line up for the new turbo. Well had to is not 100% true.. I needed an adaptor to make the stock line work and then I would still be left with a 30 year old oil line. The better part of $250 later I had the parts to make it myself with a inline filter for good measure because even my projects for projects suffer from project creep. Uncle Posted 12June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 12June, 2015 Spent the last few nights in the shed chipping away. Almost there as far as the turbo change goes. Just some small stuff to do and make up a “muffler”.
Uncle Posted 15June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 15June, 2015 Spent Sunday in the shed with LeMans streaming and a cold beer or two. Car is running again so that’s a load off my mind with the road trip to QLD looming very soon. The bigger turbo seems to of made it a little quieter but only just. Later this week I’ll make the new “muffler” set up for it and try and get a couple of shake down klm’s on the car so long as my wheel barrels also show up this week like they have been promised. Intercoolers make the best Laptop stands.

Uncle Posted 15June, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 15June, 2015 Turbo alone will yeild nothing. Turbo with EFI,Cams and intercooler should give me another 150RWHP I hope. 500RWHP is the long term goal.
