Sold pending payment. MY MOCHA BLACK 1979 SC

Recommended Posts

On offer to PFA’ers before moving to the wider web.

Selling MY Australian delivered  ‘Mocha Black’  matching numbers, 5 speed, sunroof,  160,500km’s. 1979 SC.

A rare offering in this very cool, very late 70’s colour – Mocha Black. The SC is a great colour combo with its ‘Cork’ interior and cloth (velour) seat inserts.  It’s the holy trinity of cars – Provenance – Condition – Specification and in my coloured opinion its almost everything to me; excepting its lack of tartan and fabled sporto box.

What are you seeing: rare colour, 5 speed manual, sunroof, full service and ownership history ( I am the 4th), delivery and service books, good km’s (160,500kms).

A well-known Canberra car since the early 1980’s  owned by enthusiasts and club members, and has been kept in rude health. This is a car that has been driven, enjoyed and maintained.

Still in great condition, solid engine (no leaks), no squeaks and a 915 gearbox that is shifting well. The SC has for all its 4 owners been its cliché, bullet proof. A factory sealed engine case, with a major head service done in the 90’s, recently overhauled CIS system (new - air box, WUR, rebuilt fuel dist, new injectors etc) and paint correction to address blemishes in the bonnet and rear quarters, its ready to lift its skirts.  If not sold before, it can be viewed at the RENNSPORT shown ‘n’ shine.

If you want to buy send me a PM.

So funny, saw one exactly like this yesterday driving about in my local hood. The colour looked great and I was thinking you don't see many like that - very cool indeed.

Brown is the new brown...been sayin it for years!

i prefer my dark choccie interior to cork but I reckon cork is the right choice for the mocha, otherwise you wouldn't be able to tell where the paint stopped and the trim started.

good luck, I'm sure we'll hear if you move it.

I like it.  Here's the deal.  You take my 928GTS and I'll take your car with some cash in the glovebox to make it fair on me.  I even leave a Rod Stewart album in the 8 track for you.

Michel don't fall for this ploy, I rekon Skidmarks is good for at least three Rod Stewart albums :)

Busted.

The SC is clearly a nice thing. The color is actually one of its best points. People used to bag the shit out of me for my Peru Red Carrera and the Sand Beige 73E.  And then the fashionista's got all misty eyed over the colors of the 70's and hey presto, I was a visionary guru.

Michel, surely it comes with a body suit and cork platform stompers?  Google "One Easy Piece" and look for the advert with the buy with the porn moostach, big sunnies and even bigger hair and you'll see what I'm thinking.

Michel, my offer still stands.  Although I may be looking for a little more cash my way as the market has moved SIGNIFICANTY on the 928.  Don't snooze ...

BTW, does your come with pulled head studs or is that extra?

What are you saying Michel?  That taking a look at your car is like going to Crown?  I'll PM you with some selling tips but happy to share openly that the subliminal inference that condition "could be like a game of poker" is highly likely to weld it to your balance sheet.

I believe "unrestored" trumps "matching numbers" in the classic car market nowadays.

Of course!  Michel, my 928 is unrestored.  You're still snoozing ...

undies... it has been brought to me that some on the forum, are unaware of the idiom 'rude health' , or as I stated in my opening salvo ... This SC has been kept in rude health, or some such thing.

This quite deeply affected me, which is a mild irony given my intended use of the idiom. Naively I thought it quite the vernacular and in common use?

After many straw polls and PM'son this issue I thought it best for full disclosure I provide an explanation on the open forum.

Quite to the contrary of most, the use of rude in this instance rather than implying one's manner, capacity to offend, or general demeanour; it does infact imply not easily affected, not made poorly. Implying robust vigour, or great strength.

Is it a Viking introduced term, not sure though they gave us some great words: berserker, muck die knife ransack bylaw and cake.

Which oddly left me thinking about poor Marie
