Not today.. but Sunday just passed, been too flat out to post.... damn school holidays

We committed ourselves to go cars and coffee...worked it out in the 11th hour that its not on in January  So decided to go for a drive with one of my old high school friends who has a rather nice classic Celica and my son riding shotgun in the beetle.

Set out to go Patonga beach first stop via the old Pac.

Got there and chilled for a bit, had something to nibble.

Was a little worried it would go up the ramp... but we got it on with a little scraping

A quick pit stop at the other end and took the old northern rd back to our home in the south...

What can I say? For an impromptu run, just shy of 300 km's ... we were ecstatic.. and absolutely knackered by the end of it... my god it was hot!

Did I mention I love driving? :D

Hi all (I'm new to owning a Porsche)

Firstly, Andrewbu.....bloody awesome photos, love them..!!

Took my Cayman S on its first 'long' drive today Sydney-Windsor-Putty Road to Pokolbin (Lunch at Enzo's with the Missus)-back to Sydney via Freeway, about 400km all up.

I have not driven the Putty Rd for about 10 years (no Porsche and it doesn't feel the same in a 2 ton Ford Territory..!!)...love the road and the car just felt nailed to the tarmac, but there are a couple of 80kmh stretches that get you frustrated, did not see one police car (amazed).

What I did see was about 8 Kangaroo's run across the Broke-Cessnock Road about 200m from me...god knows what goes through the minds of bikers who are 'flying'.

If any of you have any other Sydney day trip drives you could share, I'd be glad to give them a go.

Cheers

after busting my guts mowing two sets of lawns and washing and detailing 3 cars on Saturday decided to take the Boxster and the boss for a run down to Jenolan Caves on Sunday Morning, via Bells Line of Fun, Darling Causeway then onto Jenolan Caves Rd. Awesome run at 6-30am hardly any other cars on the road, just word of warning tourists own the road down there after 10. the caves are so so, designed for rich jap tourists, but the walk out into the McKeown Valley is well worth the stroll we have such a wonderful country. The route back is via Oberon as Jenolan Caves Rd is one way for the tourists during the middle of the day but even those roads are fantastic sweeping high speed bends and the like love it, even the boss sort of loved the thrill, the beers might of helped though im not sure  ;)

I was lucky enough today to drive from Wagga Wagga to Bathurst, through Cootamundra and Young.   Nice roads, no traffic, lots of gentle curves.

Then did the obligatory (and pathetic) lap of Mount Panorama at 60kph, followed by a short visit to the Museum.  It seems to have lost some of the more important cars which I remember from 10 years ago.  And the Peter Brock Wing had his Group C Commodore, but nothing else

Then, I took a drive from Bathurst to Tamworth, through the Clandula State Forest and the Bylong State Forest.  Stopping at Musswelbrook for a pee break.

OVer 700kms and it took me around 10 hours.

Very little in the way of hold ups, no caravans, pushbikes or tractors in the way.

All in all, a great day.

Now, before you start revoking my membership and black-liting me for having too much fun, I have one thing I have not mentioned.

The trip was done in a 7 metre Motorhome, which is also carrying a quite sick family cat.

Yes, I got the job of driving our sick pussy from Melbourne to Byron Bay, and I managed to get a fully self-contained bus.    AND IT COSTS ME $5 per day.   (see http://DriveNow.com.au - no affiliation, just a happy camper).

So, can I stay on the forum now ?

Tomorrow is Tamworth to Byron - debating whether to go through the Tenterfield-Casino road, or go the Sheas Nob State Forest (yes, that is the real name).    Ill report back tomorrow (and then I hand the Motorhome in and get my T back)

Lucky enough that everything worked as planned today.

Firstly, left Byron Bay at 4.30am for a 3 hour drive to Brisbane for Cars & Coffee.   It's usually a 2 hour drive, but I went the long way.  Stayed off the motorway for as long as possible,   Through the goat tracks of NSW, crossing the border onto proper roads and learning more and more about the T.

400 km and 44 litres of fuel - 11l/100k is pretty good based on my enthusiasm.

Then had a quite boring trip home along the Motorway, stopping for petrol and being stopped by another passerby who just wanted to talk about the good old days.   His brother-in-law apparently started the first Porsche service centre in NSW many moons ago.   Oh yeah - and the 911 S stands for Sporto.

Lucky me...got home and Mrs BBC needed to take a quick trip to Ballina - so I offloaded the kids and we took the 993 for its first outing in weeks.   She still thinks it smells (or maybe it's me - who knows)

Nothing flash, just 30 minutes of coastal road driving in traffic, but still enjoyable.

So I finally got to drive both in the same day.   Amazingly different.  - like REALLY REALLY different.  And they got to meet each other.

Group drive yesterday with work mates and friends.  We headed from the lookout at the northern end of Tullamarine Airport to Mt Macedon. Then to Blackwood Springs for a bbq lunch.  What a brilliant Summer day.

Did just over 300 miles (yes I am that old) in the 356 this weekend along with another 16 of the little critters. Melb to Clunes then an overnighter at Creswick, and then to Ballan this morning then home. And not a freeway or main road for the whole trip. Lots of back road stuff in the heat (40 degrees in Clunes Sat) in 55 yo cars with no aircon. Brilliant.

Went for a weekend away to Walhalla. So yesterday to Moe and up to Walhalla, ended up with a little bit of a tan (burn) from having the top down, you'd think I'd know how to apply sunscreen to all of my face by now! Then today Walhalla to Thompson Dam, to Noojee for a few pics under the Trestle Bridge, to Healesville via a dirt road :o for a pie at the bakery, down to Cockatoo and home. Smooth sailing all the way. Soptted a couple of Porsches on the way back, a dark blue 944?? with Martini liveries driving towards me and a nice red 944?? parked with it's owner who noticed our car too.

Gave it a wash when we got home and noticed the windshield surround was loose so pushed it back on and the rubber back in. Will keep an eye on that.
