Also makes it hard when a lot of the cars are out of my state.(NSW)

i like that yellow thing..

Pretty sure that car is not a 930.

You have to take some for a drive before you start randomly looking for good 911 examples - they are all quite different in their own way. There is also most likely a reason why all of them sell quickly and that yellow one has sat on the market. Work out a criteria and be patient and don't get caught up in the hype and rush your decision.

Set up your auto alerts

Monitor club sites

Contact any local specialist mechanics

Use the forum to its potential ;)

My 2 cents.

I've done all above except alerts.

im taking a look at nice 996 turbo today or tomorrow. Has X50 factory upgrade.

if it's a good one, I will get PPI

not sure how many have X50, but sure that not that many have it... 450hp car, should be fun!!?

Pretty sure that car is not a 930.

it's not.... Original hot rod with original 930 motor , gearbox and brakes

500 hp on tap , built by auto art Melbourne with 1000 ks on motor.

Might be flying down next week if 996 turbo is no good

The only way into another 911 is LHD from the States me thinks. I'd love a lefty, stripped out project/track car.

Just remember not all US cars are equal.  Some come from states where they salt the roads.  Choose wisely.  The exchange rate is not conducive to US buying right now, though.

Had a squiz at this today out of pure curiousity. I don't know the seller

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-cbd/cars-vans-utes/porsche-944/1087233291

Gearbox is out of it, starts and runs, yet it's 'tappety' that doesnt go away after 5 mins idling, and an oil smell when I switched it off. Unknown history as to when the belts were changed, so it's a bit of a lottery without a PPI

Interior is pretty good, yet dash is cracked in a few places. Switches and dials all seem to work ok, as does the sunroof. Seats and carpet just need a good clean.

Body is good, yet the bonnet needs minor work and a complete front end paint job to make it nice. A small golfball dent (or dint for you Victorians) above the LH A pillar, but thats about it.

If you're after a good project, you'd get it for $3000 he tells me. I really like 944's, and would buy it as a future project if I didnt have to rebuild the 912 engine.

that is so cheap!!! I have to justify WHY I can't buy it. Lucky the kids have all my money:( First world problem, I still own a beautiful S2 so I am a lucky man :)

And while you're interested in red 944s, here's a 952 setting the price pace...

Looks like a gorgeous example, has all the desirables including M030, LSD, would love to see them get the price...

Had a chat with a bloke today, and he has a 74 'wide bodied' car that should be up for sale soon.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was bought last year from W.A as a fixer upper with massive wheels on it. Looked like a beast of a hot rod thing that needed paint and some TLC.

It's a Jap rhd import with a 3.0 fitted, yet thats about the only info I have at the moment, and he'll be chasing around $50k for it

It's going for rego inspection soon,

Anyway, I have first refusal on it, as he's busting to get my 912 (ain't gunna happen) so I'll get some pics and info and keep anyone posted if theyre keen on it

To improve on the previuse answer , based on a few for sale around the world, 1 B coup 14000 ponds, an A coupe 35000 pounds, obviously they need work, both have original motors. Some idea of what's out there. Looks like a nice project.
