YellowDieselGolf Posted 3November, 2016 Report Share Posted 3November, 2016 Hey!My 993 is due for a service (it's first since I've owned it) and there are no specialist garage's in Albury. I'm heading to Phillip Island in a few weeks so I thought I might stop by on the Eastern side of Melbourne and get it serviced.I'm after someone affordable (I know) and flexible as I'm travelling. Bonus points it they are near something interesting as I'll have a few hours to kill! Any ideas? Thanks all!
Pork Chops Posted 3November, 2016 Report Share Posted 3November, 2016 Nineauto and go to 2Brothers Brewery while you wait. Or Cairns and get mugged in Hallam.

Skidmarks Posted 3November, 2016 Report Share Posted 3November, 2016 Werks RRR. Bayswater. Shaun Cairns and Spencer Harrison have a rock show going there. Servicing, restoration, fast road and race. Go just to see the machinery they have under their care.
MR901 Posted 3November, 2016 Report Share Posted 3November, 2016 I would second Werks RRR. I was in the workshop earlier this week & the cars that "live" there are worth a dedicated trip !! Especially the IROC series race cars & GT3's...Cheers

YellowDieselGolf Posted 8November, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 8November, 2016 I've had a few emails come back. They're all in the same ball park, but the Porsche are having a special - You get 1 year roadside assistance and a lipo type battery charger. Will make a decision in the next few days. Thanks again. Edit - It's a phone charger, not a jump starter.

Philbee Posted 9November, 2016 Report Share Posted 9November, 2016 Am following this thread: I'm reading there's a few shops near where I live.... Cascone, nineauto,... But weltmeister in Richmond is next to the train station which makes it so easy for me to get to work from there if I drive in and drop the car off. Not having reached my 1st service yet & with a few plans to mod & upgrade bits, do you feel it's better to try these local places out... ?? Pork Chops Posted 9November, 2016 Report Share Posted 9November, 2016 Phil if you have the time drop in and see them all as they will each have their own flavour. Meeting the people you'll be dealing with and seeing their spaces can be quite illuminating. You will want to build a relationship with them and for them to get to know the car so perhaps consider that as part of your decision. I've never used any of the workshops you've mentioned (but I've had cause to visit and chat) but I know people who do with Cascone and Nineauto and they're very happy with them. My guess is Nineauto will suit you best. Just a guess.

Steve88 Posted 10November, 2016 Report Share Posted 10November, 2016 3rdly Support Darren At Autocoupe and you can easily spend hours upon hours looking through the fleet there too. And grab a coffee and a bite to eat at Second Home
YellowDieselGolf Posted 10November, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 10November, 2016 Thanks all. The clutch pedal sometimes sticks so I was going to ask for the clutch bled. Tonight I read the maintenance logs and the PO did it last time. I might have to replace the cylinders and kinematic lever http://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/554404-clutch-master-and-slave-cylinder-hose-kinematic-lever-and-bleeding.html

Mike-S Posted 10November, 2016 Report Share Posted 10November, 2016 I only have experience of PCM and Stuart @ NineAuto. Stu looks after my car and it's been there several times since I put it on the road a year ago (I collect it tomorrow from the latest round), I wouldn't have any hesitation at all in recommending him to look after a car. His prices are incredibly reasonable, makes running this little 911 very affordable.

SteveC Posted 6December, 2016 Report Share Posted 6December, 2016 any shops better than others for the 901 911 (roughly 65-73) type cars? need a service, replace some window and door seals, maybe change a few panels to fibreglass, replace interior trim, address the smell of fumes coming into the cabin??also what oil would you use for the engine? i use 0w40 mobil 1 for late model cars, thinking something thicker would suit older cars
Barks Posted 6December, 2016 Report Share Posted 6December, 2016 Cairns always have a fair selection of aircooled cars in so I'm guessing they know what they're doing! Toby will look after you.
