MFX Posted 11February Author Report Share Posted 11February This week I have a go at tackling the overheating issue in the Alfarrari and then get the engine out to give it a bit more room. Scott930 and 3legs
LeeM Posted 11February Report Share Posted 11February I reckon part of the heating problem is being static in the garage with no air flow through the radiator whilst driving it. The team I rode for had the same problem with my racebike when they were on the dyno, as they didn't have a big fan and it ran at 90-95°, yet as soon as we got it to the track and I was racing the next day with warmer ambient temp, it was consistently running at 78-84° at 260kph. Even my old Hiace van was overheating at the lights when the fans were dicky, yet normal op temp when it's driving MFX
MFX Posted 11February Author Report Share Posted 11February It will run fine when driving as the dyno proved, but it needs to be able to sit in traffic on a 40 degree day with the A/C blaring LeeM
MFX Posted 18February Author Report Share Posted 18February This week I do a lot of cutting and welding, but I finally make enough space to properly fit the Ferrari engine in the Alfarrari. I also think I have worked out my idle and overheating issues. Scott930, 3legs and tomo

MFX Posted 25February Author Report Share Posted 25February Unfortunately it is not click bait. This week I get the Ferrari engine back into the car and everything is going very well, until it doesn't... tomo, Ian718, GTP911 and 3 others

42 South Posted 3March Report Share Posted 3March Great news Jeff - just a suggestion, in your driving video the lap sash of the seat belt looks to be too high and the stalk should perhaps be shortened to ensure it is properly placed. It definitely was. The catch was stuck behind the seat and by the time I realised I couldn't be bothered to get out and flip the seat forward to get it into the correct spot so I just went with it
LeeM Posted 5March Report Share Posted 5March So how was it driving it with a bit of anger mate?

Super slow, so that is something I am already working on. Still too loud, the tune is not right yet, and the brakes need another bleed, but it definitely has some poke 3legs, LeeM, Joz and 2 others
MFX Posted 17March Author Report Share Posted 17March The Alfarrari is running and driving, but there are still a few big issues that need to be resolved. Overheating being the biggest one so far. tomo, Scott930 and 3legs
MFX Posted 31March Author Report Share Posted 31March This week I try to tackle the Alfarrari's steering issues. There is a lot to consider with steering including bump steer and ackerman, but I tackle it head on in this episode. tomo and Scott930
