They are pretty substantial price rises but the Government is getting 33% of the increase not to mention the extra revenue from the additional stamp duty.

I hear what you are saying, Friday night's fish,n, chips gone up 5 bucks :)

  • 3 weeks later...

getting an allocation for a build slot on most 911 models right now puts you at mid to late next year. I’m not knowledgeable on panamera but would say expect similar. I hear just getting a dealer to guarantee a build slot can be challenging as with all manufacturers key parts such as chips and wiring looms etc to build new cars has been impacted by well documented recent events.

So getting a discount right now, I would say no chance,  lucky we are not like US and UK who have been paying over mrsp since early 2021.

I know a number of dealers are also buying up 991 and 992 good 2nd hand stock from existing clients and even carsales to have something on the floor to sell, but expect to pay a premium or close to price of a new one..

Ron Goodman has been using Porsche Parramatta as his personal garage for 12+ months now. They’ve had barely anything on the floor for at least 18 months.

About to place an order a Macan GTS and as suggested on another post last week the wait is 18 months.  Luckily I am in no hurry to get it.  5% deposit though.  At least the 2023 model has adaptive cruise control.

None as far as I know. They’re just quoting 18 months but in reality they have no idea.

So what do the sales guys do all day?  Must be a boring job.

They’re still selling, its just “18 months” - it’s not their fault the mothership won’t send enough cars here. I feel bad for them really, the only thing they can actually move off the lot are second hand cars.

I imagine their commission gets paid on settlement not on deposit.  Long wait for a drink……

Asked the same question of a sales guy at a PCSS event a few weeks ago. His comment was all good they still deliver cars every month it’s just a long tail of orders

So if a salesman leaves before the car is delivered, do they miss out on being paid the commission???  Golden handcuffs if that's the case I would think.......

In all likelihood they wouldn't be paid the commission. That is reasonably standard in sales roles, which is why people often quit the day their commission clears.

Got a build date of Aug / Sept. Dec delivery. 992. I think if you order now expect 2 yrs & more price increases. I'm on the tail end of MY22. MY23 additional $20k. Thought of waiting for a 992.2 - but could die of old age by then!

Seen some later model base 992 on car sales for around $349k drive away. About $50-60k over new list price.

The price increase is a bit of a worry for me.  I think that $170K for the GTS Macan is pricey enough.  It is already hard when my wife also looked at the Genesis GV70 which is fully loaded including a 3.5 ltr V6 TT AWD and everything that opens and shuts (even massaging seats) all for $100K drive away.  I know its a glorified Hyundai but $70K saving takes a lot of convincing, so if Porsche put up the price of the Macan twice before delivery at the end of 2023 that is a sell to the Mrs that may be a bit too hard for me.  I guess I could always sell my slot if it goes up too much.  Head vs heart kicking in here.

I made a similar decision in 2017 with my last SUV - the GLS for $160k with a similar level of options, or the Volvo XC-90 D5 R Design. Even at $160k it still was missing options over the Volvo, and then I went and threw the kitchen sink at the Volvo. Ended up $100k drive away.

Could not justify the uplift to the Merc in the end.

I've had 90k kms of trouble free motoring out of the Volvo - can't say the same of the 3 other Mercs I've owned in that time.

Back to the topic at hand though - as long as our government persists with ADRs and a ban on parallel imports, the prices are only going to go one way across the board, and that is all brands, not just Porsche.
