wasserkuhl Posted 2March, 2013 Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 So I thought I would start a Fresh thread for my 912 Journey. A Summary so far..... 1966 912 Built April 1966 and Delivered in June 1966 in Munchen (Munich ) Germany. Options include 5 Speed Transmission, Clock ,outside temperature gauge and Chrome 4.5" wheels. It has been verified as a matching numbers car. Currently it is in Trnsit between Victoria and South Australia. It has been repainted in an orange/red colour, its original colour was PoloRot (Polo red) so at some stage I will repaint it in this colour. Items needing attention before I get it inspected are: - RHS Durant Door mirror to be installed. - Change engine and Gearbox Oil to Brad Penn 20W 50 and Swepco 201 respectively - Fresh Brake Fluid and Bleed (Valvoline Dot 4) - Ensure all Lights, wipers and indicators work as they should - Clay Bar and fully cleanse the Body using Zymol Products. After the inspection - - Obtain a decent second hand steering wheel - Install a NOS Blaupunkt and correct aluminium fascia plate - Put some cocoa mats in

Coastr Posted 2March, 2013 Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 I think a short drive video would be great. I for one have never heard a 912 running.
wasserkuhl Posted 2March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 Brakes and pads ? Re-Grease ? The journey begins, have fun Ahh Yes, pads and discs looked OK, however I will run over the suspension with a grease gun. I will probably put new seals in the calipers and pistons if they need it. I did this on my 356SC as one piston wasnt returning and was sticking on sometimes. Same braking system! I think a short drive video would be great. I for one have never heard a 912 running. Your wish will be my command, I may have to wait a couple of weeks before I can get it on the road though. a 912 or 356 sounds like a Volkswagen on Steroids. They have a marvellous induction roar from the Solex Carbs...............This 912 is quieter than my 356 though as it has a std exhaust and the full snouted filter cans on it. Or is there some secret car sharing going on? Yep they are all in there at the moment, I am lucky to have a massive shed. Yeah I know silver C3's are pretty common! It is the most teutonic colour to have though! Nice partnership Steve, really looking forward to the reincarnation of the 912. CheeRS Niko. wasserkuhl Posted 7March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 7March, 2013 Well. I have replace the front hood shocks as I hate having to hold it with my head. Its running extremely rich. Spark Plugs, Bosch Platinums are black as. Need to adjust the float levels, richness and idle. New Dizzy Cap, rotor, condenser and points. And some special NGK Plugs will change how she behaves. At the moment she is punching out Raw fuel from the pipe. I suspect she has been doing short low temp runs for a while. "We Fix"
