withers Posted 31October, 2013 Report Share Posted 31October, 2013 I am not a fan either... not for that money anyway!
Black Pearl Posted 1November, 2013 Report Share Posted 1November, 2013 I am wearing this one today: Love the strap on that. I've got a classic pilot 31707 which would look great with that strap.
Orion03 Posted 1November, 2013 Report Share Posted 1November, 2013 I have a mate who can get a chinese copy of the strap if you are interested. I have one on order for a spare. I put a black pvd deployant on it to make it last longer
withers Posted 23January, 2014 Report Share Posted 23January, 2014 So I just found this on a local site and thought I'd post it up here for anyone interested in acquiring a nice vintage automotive racing styled watch! Link Alex69T
Alex69T Posted 12February, 2014 Report Share Posted 12February, 2014 Amanda, you wouldn't believe it; I've been actively looking for one of these for several months. What are the chances of finding a link in a car forum of all places? Thanks! Here's a wrist shot of my new watch: Here is a very young looking Mario Andretti wear the same watch: Orion03, MaxzmusSC and Niko

You must have done that in the last few days as he still had it last week when I was in there. LOVELY watch! Something really special I think Congrats
Alex69T Posted 12February, 2014 Report Share Posted 12February, 2014 Yes, I just got it today. It's in amazing condition considering it's age. Seemed to be priced well too comparing with O/S prices. withers

Yes that was a very good price compared to whats on ebay for example. You now know you'll get your money back and practically purchased a collectible investment piece

Alex69T Posted 14February, 2014 Report Share Posted 14February, 2014 I'm liking this thread. Here's the watch I currently wear almost daily: Although I wear it on a leather strap, not the bracelet above: ...and I swear I'm not stalking Mario Andretti, but he has one too:
withers Posted 14February, 2014 Report Share Posted 14February, 2014 Very nice! I prefer it on the black leather strap too looks sportier and suits it more so. What else you got?
Alex69T Posted 15February, 2014 Report Share Posted 15February, 2014 I have a few Amanda. I only became interested in watches 3 or 4 years ago. The second "nice" watch I got was this Gulf Monaco. In the time I've had it, it's only seen the light of day a handful of times and still has the clear protective film on the back. Here it is on a suitable stand: Even have the matching wall clock. I'll mount this in the garage when I get around to it: LeeM and Niko

Orion03 Posted 15February, 2014 Report Share Posted 15February, 2014 Rolex sub no date, very nice, designed forJacques Cousteau by his good mate who ran Rolex. A lot of history in that piece. Also worn by Chuck Yeager.
Orion03 Posted 18February, 2014 Report Share Posted 18February, 2014 My next watch... been waiting 2 years for it from: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f497/wus-chinese-tourbillon-project-prototype-discussions-937997-7.html#post7017275 I figure it's my only chance at a Tourbillon movement. withers Posted 22February, 2014 Report Share Posted 22February, 2014 I prefer the clean look of the no date, sans cyclops. This is my all time favourite watch Doug. It's also the only one I now own (about to sell my Tudor Date-Day if anyone fancies a freshly serviced 38mm one?) I've got a few other bits and pieces but this is it for me. Obviously with my other announcement, this fetish has had to take a back seat too. Although, collecting watches (the right watches) is a pretty good hobby if you have the funds and the foresight to pick the right pieces. Vintage is where it's at for the most part. Alex69T Posted 25February, 2014 Report Share Posted 25February, 2014 Here's a Vic Elford/Porsche inspired watch from a fairly new company called Autodromo. The watch uses a Seiko "mecaquartz" movement and has a cool 1970's vibe going on. D-banger
withers Posted 3March, 2014 Report Share Posted 3March, 2014 Alex, love that last pic! Brilliant.. I'm not sure if I'm smitten by the watch, the photo, the bokeh or the 911 steering wheel in the background... oh maybe it's all that!
