Any Porsche watch guys/gals

Recommended Posts

Hey Arthur, did you buy it at the Tag Boutique or an AD? If Tag won't play ball I'd take it either a Watches of Switzerland or Chris at The Watch Gallery in the CBD. Tell them Amanda sent you in. Explain it all to them, they will look after you.

It may need a service, new mainspring etc But if TH are giving you crap service, I'd take my money elsewhere. They aren't difficult to work on.

Like some cars and other mechanical things, things with moving parts - occasionally you get a lemon. It's just bad luck. Sorry it's happened to you guys tho. Sux!

PM me if you want any more help.

EDIT - ok it's a new watch. I'm sending you a PM Arthur.

Amanda flicked you a reply - thanks for your input........

well, when I got an IWC Portuguese Auto I was sad that it gained 14 seconds a day.

So I got onto Facebook and asked them what's up,

And Immediately their Facebook consultant messages me and arranged to fix it.

I took it to Watches of Swiss, they couriered to the the IWC service centre in Sydney. Kept in touch with me via email, checked the watch out, service, regulated it for me.

End result, down to 4 secs a day and I am happy with their service.

now that's the service you expect from a high end watch.

My IWC doesnt miss a beat - either wearing it or in the automatic winder its bullet proof. I think IWC is at a different level to the Tag though........

Hi

Approaching a "significant" birthday and the better half wants to buy me a nice watch.  In this household, we're not strangers to nice watches, having had Tudor, Porsche Design, TAG and Meistersinger; and I was hoping for an Omega Seamaster 300 Pro.  But today I had a look and feel of a Sinn 103 Ti TESTAF and was highly impressed.  Anyone here have any experience with Sinn? (no jokes please...)

Thanks

Rob

Just got off the phone with the Tag Service Centre and had to bite my tongue.

According to them the watch can gain anything upto 8 minutes in a 4 week period!!! Seriously that is pretty stuffed. 6 to 8 weeks turn around for recalibration. Remind me never to buy a Tag again.

I think I will be going back to the retailer and giving them my opinion rather than the snooty service consultant - I had kids present to let it rip..................

Hi Arthurk , all watches are different if your tag is a Automatic -6 to +10 per day is good or manual -6 to +6 you can get the watch regulate to suit your wear , you should wear for 4 weeks and write down time each week total and tell the watchmaker he can regulate closer for you. And for 6 to 8 week for repair is normal there's only about 40-50 watchmakers in Australia if that. Take it to Watches of Switzerland and ask for their watchmaker

Fulfilling by liking for old retro watches, this is my latest purchase.  You may wonder why I have lusted after a funny, almost tacky looking 40 year old watch  B)

Well it’s the signature and provenance of the driver referred to on the face which makes it a collectible for me.

Jacky Ickx Bullhead watch by Sorna

This “Easy Rider” bullhead style chronograph wrist watch was manufactured during the 1970s by Sorna and named after Jacky Ickx. This Sorna is made with a manual wind 17 jewel movement (EB 8420). Black anodized metal case with gold plated fittings, a stainless steel back (bearing the beautiful Sorna crest) and a black strap.

Jacky Ickx commenced racing in Formula One in1967 and won 8 Formula One Grand Prix  including Ferrari and Brabham.

Often called Mister Le Mans, for his six victories at the famous race of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including four with Porsche.  He was also one of the professional drivers who did the driving for the Steve McQueen movie Le Mans

Post F1 he won the 1977 Bathurst 1000 with Alan Moffat and 1983 Paris Dakar.

Has anyone had any Tissot's before? Any drama's with them?

I may go have a look at this one

Hi LeeM,

Tissot PRS516 your looking at is a Quartz movement the are good just replace battery & press test every two years.

The movement is a disposable ETA G10.211 which cannot be repaired but they replace them, also Tag Heuer use too.

Look on eBay for prices, also at the old PRS516 Chronograph mechanical great movements

Anyone selling a mid to late 60's Heuer Carrera or Camaro?

I am looking for a nice one for myself.

Or know of a place in AU that might sell them?

I'd prefer not to buy on ebay.

Murf

Murf - Chris from The Watch Gallery in the Melbourne CBD often gets nice vintage Heuers in stock.  Keep an eye on his site  www.thewatchgallery.com.au and see what he's posting.  Also, if you are in the CBD, call in to his shop and have a look too - not all his pieces make it to the website. He's a good bloke and only sells 100% genuine watches.

If you feel game tho - you could look at this  - this one is HOT!  You can get good buys off the Internet, but as with all things online - scams are around, so you need to buy the seller first!

Keep your eyes peeled, they do come up occasionally.

Here's my mid to late 70's Carrera. The Côtes de Genève dial is stunning in real life. I'm yet to see a photo do it justice.

Just tried the Cvstos watch on at Sincere and the watch isnt any near as good as it looks in the window. I struggled with reading the dial as some of the design elements refracted light in very weird ways.

Only the other hand whilst looking at the Cvstos I also tried on the Portugese Yacht Club Chrono and photos dont do it justice. It looks way more elegant in person and can have a sporty elegant personality if need be.

I still desire the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang though:
