Any Porsche watch guys/gals

Here's my old circa early 60's Omega Seamaster.

It was my Dad's originally, now mine. And my daily driver to boot.

Like the Patek Philippe ad says: You never actually own it. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Corny but, in this case, true :)

On the topic of Rolex, did you guys know that during WW2 Rolex gave Allied POW's Rolexs on the condition that they paid for them when the war was over.

Going back to the Seiko love, I dug up my single owner Seiko Divers circa early/mid 80's.

I was big into surfing in those days and the Seiko Divers was de regueur. I kept it because of the emotional attachment. I don't even know if it works :o

In those days it was a BIG watch. To me anyway.

Nice Speedy Pro Orion.

Such a versatile looking watch.

At home on the bracelet and equally on many straps. My preference at the moment is on the black rallye type strap.

I missed the link at the bottom of your post first time I saw it.  Just read it now! Wow.. I have heard of this but not seen the letter from Hans Wildorf.  As I've said previously in this thread, Rolex really is an amazing company.

It's really interesting to think that here are these POW's already in the prison camp..... but they are allowed to somehow order and receive a Rolex ?

it's the whole weird German Army gentleman's honor code or something.

I'm going to dig around and see what other info I can find on this subject. It's very interesting I think.

The Portuguese Chrono (sp a bit  off there)  lovely watch Orion :)

Amanda, apparently they could send a letter to Rolex via the Red Cross and get the watch that way

another facinating read:  http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=1945498&mid=6563912&rid=60154&rev=&reveal=

There was a great article in Timezone... but the links are not working at the moment, I managed to get a old cache copy and converted that into pdf:
