Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

Looks more like a Porsche 944 . some people must smoke a lot of things

Hahha my thoughts exactly "what's he smokin?

It is a sensitive point amongst people who paid the local tax ;) Best not discuss around here :P

The local tax? Meaning buying Aust delivered and paying our pumped up new car prices re taxes?

bargain!  You could get the import and a spare 996 tip for when it is in the shop.

Makes sense to do that Coastr, and yeah when did buying Aust cars vs O/S cars and paying a premium make sense (except for rust)? But still doesn't stop nearly everyone preferring an Aust car over an import and paying the extra in reality ...I guess you pay 30 less for an import and get 30 less back at the other end...or 60 less backif its doubled over 5 years - Ah it's a Porsche! Sorry doubled next year!!!

not my cars. I've put up wanted ads:) I'm looking for something I'll be keeping. So must love what I see.

I personally think if you're not going to buy something that's for sale, but it's not advertised, pass it onto the forum.

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1987/SSE-AD-3754113/?Cr=5

A mates backdate, originally commissioned by a "well healed" owner work completed by Zag Brothers.

Nice example, PFA'ers who have been on the Canberra run may have seen it previously.

Very smooth drive, actually when I drove it I came away with the impression that it was quite "refined" when compared to my hot rod.  Sublime Gearbox and really nicely balanced suspension setup, with the kick of a nice 3.2.  If you were inclined you could easily make this a daily driver (not that many would).

I recall that one!  Once owned by an advertising company in UK.  Was advertised for about a year  about 2 years ago.  About $69k and needed a bit of recommissioning work and located in Qld I think.

In fact you can still see one of the original adverts: http://www.classic-mobiles.com/inserat/porsche-911-g-1982-2

I ogled it for a bit but was put off by the need to spend more money on it and the freaky seats.  Yes, hindsight is great....

Amazing what a few months will do to values. Nice car  though

I think the car your talking about is Minerva …possibly.. if its the same car .. its still up my way and I chased the owner for more than a year .. lots of stories on that one ..Satchi's car?

I have the vin somewhere and many pictures and more ...

Very hardwork trying to get to the bottom of that muddled game….of 930..a relatively standard car from what i know , some and needs some amount of money being spent on it… not sure if the owner has inflated ideas

If Nigella ever sat in it , that would be a definite plus , provenance wise. I might even buy it.

Above and beyond the call of duty.  And in any case , I suspect she could drive it as well as most middle aged males.

That car (at least the one in the link) definitely looks to be Minerva. We have a Minerva Blue 930 and purchased around the same time that one was up on carsales. I think the dealer at the time was asking 79k? This was September 2014.

Edit: I read the description...doh!

The car in the link is im pretty sure the one im talking about …..was at Oldtimer also and yes has the writeup as per the advert but lots and I say lots of other stories..

I do know where it is , well at least i did till a couple fo months ago and im pretty sure its still there ..maybe theres a slim chance the owner flicked it as I know hes an overseas worker and comes back on holidays and its that season.

Some fuel , alternator and possible other niggles .

Anyway , just beware ..know what your getting…….. probably two different cars ..but maybe not if thats the ownership story , I cant be sure , I know it was QLD import and I believe that it has never been registered here and maybe not had all monies paid for that to happen.

All felt complicated to me ..so as not to bitch about a car that I cant be sure of , I would say this , I would have bought if it,  were there were some fact, but with the lack of clarity and  few answers. I would have also dealt with the rust and issues at the right price.. the right price and circumstances never seem to eventuate

I think the other 930 tasty imports discussed  and I have seen sold have represented probably better value ..the Adelaide silver car and the Melbourne 930 snapped up ...

I noticed those seats were a 4k option back in 82:)) very rare. Not a fan either. And yes that dreaded hindsight :(

reggiegums sold his 964? Got asking?

No. Plenty of inquiries, several $70k plus offers. Cash!!!

So i decided to pull the car to Perth to join my other 964 and Cayenne TT. Car is being moved after Christmas.

I also did a bad bad thing, I bought a 996 C4S last night.

996 c4s is a good looking car.

Good to know what the market is really saying about 964 values. Everything seems to be going through a bit of a correction right now. $70k+ seems a little on the low side. I would have thought we would at least have an 8 Infront.

Thats what I thought. But I have to admit that my car is a little rough cosmetically. The motor is noisy so I'll get RJP in Perth to have a look at it. You would agree that the 964 pulls differently though the rev, unlike the varioram 993 that has torque all though the rev range. 964s lurch on the higher rev.

What are your thoughts on a respray in the original colour? Does a respray affect the value? Is there a certain brand that I have to use to maintain originality? Do I have to take it back to bare metal?

Always liked the wide body of the c4s and the smoothness.

People hate the all wheel drive but after driving the 964c4, I like the slightly heavier front steering feel.
