Uncle Posted 1June, 2014 Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 I've been um'ing and ah'ing about this for a while now and have come to the conclusion I want another aircooled car. The Gem is a fantastic car but I dunno I guess I'm just an old school guy. Details. Bought new as a Boxster S from Porsche centre Sydney in 2001 on tourist delivery. Once the car was built it was sent on a tow truck to Gemballa for work then placed back on a tow truck back to Porsche to be finished and picked up by the new owner. Cost in the year 2000 was the best part of $300k. It's a factory built very fast car. In short 335kw/1280kg. The 3.2 is a completely built Gemballa motor with forged pistons and rods, turbo vario cam heads,Gemballa crank the list goes on and on. Gemballa gearbox is also built by them to their spec. Gemballa coilover shocks and swaybars. Gemballa wheels. Gemballa leather. Gemballa wing. Gemballa 3 radiator and oil cooler. 996TT turbo brakes and rotors. Anyway the list goes on and on so just call me for more info. The car has just clicked over 67,000klms and had a new clutch fitted 2,500klms ago. Drives as new in every way. Yadda yadda give me a call if your interested 0429eightsixtwo 534.
Russ Posted 1June, 2014 Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 I'm not sure if I should like this or not, but good luck with the sale and getting back into an air cooled car if this was about 6 months from now I'd be rather keen.. (although i'd probably lose my license in the first few weeks of ownership)
Uncle Posted 1June, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 Well Russ much like my last car I prolly won't really do anything to actually sell it. Simple fact is I hardly get time to use a toy car so it might as well be something completely over the top (As if a Gemballa isn't lol) and a bit crazy. This is a great car, but the list of great cars is endless, 993 turbo, 997 I & II, 991 S, GT3 (even the flammable),I think the search could be endless. My beautiful 996 that I should never have sold (bit like the first true love, but let's not digress). Could be an endless tormented journey seeking perfection when you've already had it. T-Man Posted 1June, 2014 Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 I remember sitting in the passenger seat, driving through the the outskirts of Canberra, and thinking that this thing was way too civilised for you.

hugh Posted 1June, 2014 Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 Looking forward to seeing "Uncle: The Chronicle part III - return of the Air Cooled". I'm sure it will find another loving home, maybe down south with its hell bent older brother! I'll be watching with interest
Uncle Posted 1June, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 1June, 2014 The next car needs to be narrow body 3.2 with G50 or already have a 3.3 and 4 speed.. Greg. It's great car,it can do everything very very well and is certainly fast. But. I just miss the "thing" that is an older car too much to ignore it. tazzieman Posted 2June, 2014 Report Share Posted 2June, 2014 Hasn't the Gemballa got better power to weight than a GT3? I think he needs a proper dirty project to go with his big workshop space.

Of course it does! But depends what he wants? I'm like uncle don't have much time to enjoy it, but every time you drive it, it's an event, this thing at 8k rpm is intoxicating. I do however find my self wanting to wrench on something because GT3 needs nothing done... Just enjoy it!

9fan Posted 2June, 2014 Report Share Posted 2June, 2014 Martin, Looks like it burns a lot of wood for a Steam driven car - but goes like a Train, I certainly enjoyed the ride !
Uncle Posted 3June, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 3June, 2014 Cheers Mark. I've put the car on Gumtree at a price I care enough to sell it at lol. I might list in on Carsales at the same price and if it moves I'll call other Martin and have further talks. If no bites who cares. I did 650 klms in it yesterday and enjoyed every one of them. tazzieman Posted 3June, 2014 Report Share Posted 3June, 2014 Best of luck with the sale, and with your search for a vehicle with two personalities , wives always like the word "practical", though in my experience LHD is not a selling point.
