Mik001 Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 So here's a pic of my Carrera S that turns up this week. I can't decide if I like the crab claw wheels or not. Any suggestions for what wheels look good on a 997 both aftermarket or factory. Thinking I might pull the wheels off while they are new and store them. What do you guys think of the factory wheels ? K911 Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 18" Fuch's or Sport Classics are popular suggestions on this forum for 997's.Im in a similar scenario with wheel choices and still cannot decide! LeeM and Mik001
Raven Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 Yeh the Fuch do look right on the 997 they seem to suit the car............I have the factory 19" carrera classics optioned on mine and really like them easy to keep clean and lots of room to get your hands in and clean the inside of the rim and the brakes ... Mik001 Posted 25February, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 Both look great and I love the sport classic thanks for the suggestions. Not sure if black on black is too heavy though.
Raven Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 I like the silver wheels on black cars also ,,,like you said to much black looks too heavy .............just go through google images and see what you find appealing ...........and welcome to the color black it is a hobby just to keep it looking pristine .......... Skidmarks Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 Go the Fuchs. Have a crack at silver petals with silver centre caps.I know its been done before but its a good look.I ran 18" Fuchs on a 996 Turbo for a while and they do suit the later shape.Call me crazy but I also think the crab claws look good .... Whytar Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 BBS-CHR's are the only aftermarket wheel I would really consider Mik001
Pork Chops Posted 25February, 2017 Report Share Posted 25February, 2017 Fuchs > 16" make baby Jesus cry.BBS LM in gold, or another silver OEM wheel. Get spacers to stance it properly and set the ride height properly. The right stance will forgive a bad wheel and even a bad shape. Example, there is an 80s Toyota Cressida near me that is stanced perfectly and there is something very right about it. dan_189 Posted 27February, 2017 Report Share Posted 27February, 2017 Wheel dynamics in the US make some awesome wheels if you're set on a new look.Wheels are great because you can always switch back if you hold onto them.Suspension is a little harder and not always a DIY option for some. Mik001 Posted 27February, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 27February, 2017 Thanks for the suggestions. I'll consider the BBS CHR. I'll say no to turbo wheels, I don't want to copy another model. It seems there is plenty of love for the claws however I'll reserve judgment till Friday when she is delivered.
Raven Posted 27February, 2017 Report Share Posted 27February, 2017 Just drive and enjoy the car for some time and see if the claws grow on you ,,,if not you can always change them ,,,,,,,,,,
