Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

Looks nice

I started off looking for a 993. I tried to buy one - offered asking price - but the seller came to his senses and held onto it. Good call.

This is definitely worth a look.

Emailed already...awaiting reply with some more detailed photos and description.

I am in sydney, the car is in WA.

Would it be nuts to buy without seeing the car if the basics check out?

Not nuts but not necessarily ideal. Depends on the demand for the car, if time allows maybe worth a look in person (and a drive) especially if it's your first Porsche.

Sure others will chime in with a recommended WA specialist to consult for an inspection - best of luck!

Thanks Hugh. Not my first 993...would be my third. Doesnt make me an expert though. Im confident to ask the right questions and look at specific detailed photos, but I agree its not ideal. Seeing it and driving it is just not achievable at the moment. Time!!! Ill wait to hear back from the seller and will keep you all posted.

mqc,

Might be worth calling KTEC to see if they know it well enough to give advice since they appear to be where the current owner bought if from.

That info, what the owner tells you and the other encumbrances/rego history checks might give you enough confidence to make an offer over the phone.

If someone checks it out for you, it's bold but not nuts. If you budget in for some fix-up work anything wrong can be dealt with. As long as the car is straight and the engine/gearbox is working and all the bits are there you're ok, right?

I'm the previous owner of the blue 993 that sold in January.

I'm based in Perth and more than happy to check the car out for you. I've got a good relationship with Ktec too.

By the way, my Porsche went to a certain race car driver.

Oh thanks so much reggiegums. I have spoken to the owners mate who is selling the car and just awaiting some more photos of logbooks, label under bonnet and some recent receipts. Have spoken to ktec who wont give too much away, but at least confirmed knowing the car, the owner and his mate!!! I will ask where exactly the car is located and if I dont have a brain snap and just buy it, I might take you up on your offer...as long as I can pay you for your time. Thanks again and keep you updated. Was in melbourne for my first GP a couple of weeks ago...it wasnt an f1 driver born in Perth that bought your car was it?

Buying sight unseen is not as bad as it sounds........as long as you have someone interstate that can see and drive the car and verify the history with Ktec. I did exactly that when I bought mine.

I need to ask though. What happened to your other 993s?

Sounds fishy.  But if you want to buy it Hugh, I'll happily drive it for you because it would be such a burden for you to drive all 3 at once :P  :P

I'm bored. Nice day out. Thinking of looking for a 996 or a Boxster to go and test drive at a dealer!  :)

In all seriousness, why hasn't this sold?  It's a good looking car, unlike some of the bastardised machines that are out there. And if the racer look wasn't your thing.. wouldn't take much to find someone to trade seats with and remove all the metal bits from the interior surely?

T-Man, I think I posted it somewhere else a while back and I dont really like talking about it but, I sold my 96 midnight blue/beige tip 993, 50k kms MINT whilst building a house. Then a few years later another house build and a 97 993 tip C2S 23k km Vesuvious grey/terracotta, even more MINT, had to go. Both cars beautiful to look at but definitely preferred the overall drive of the standard C2. As I mentioned previously I havent slept well since, hence im on the hunt, another house build on the cards...but the next 993 stays!

Ok, advice required. The seller of the black 993 tip has been more than accomodating. He has sent through pics and videos which were great.

One problem, how concerning is RUST in the two notorious spots...lower left side rear one spot 5mm and driver side front windscreen between guard rubber and windscreen rubber, multiple tiny spots starting. Thoughts urgently required please?

Others might also help, but I find it unusual for a 993 to have rust.My personal experience only,  I live 200mtrs from the ocean and have owned 2 993's previously and currently have one neither have had rust. This leads me to ask , (not knowing anything about the car) is it from the UK or is it Aussie delivered.
