LeeM Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 Theres one of those Bolwells near me with a V8 in it. Sounds awesome when he hits the loud pedal. I bet the red one above goes over the estimate. Rare to find a decent one

BBC Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 With all the interest stirred up here, lets say $50k! How much faith does one have on the PPI report as provided by Shannons? After all, I imagine that this is a 40-year old car that requires specialist knowledge to evaluate properly…How do you discount for the (unknown) risks buying from an auction like this? michel Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 those PPI's are about as good as the ones on graysonline - hopeless you hope it has a wedge of receipts in the glove box and or can get hold of the prior owner
Danny Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 maybe. id say def yes if nagari I think it looks much more refined than the nagari. I'm really interested to see what it goes for. With a Holden six and triple side draft carbs it would go like the clackers too.
tomo Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 Yes the back of the car has been customized with the rear 1/4 windows and no back window recess
Chris-p Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 What will you be replacing it with? You could get a 997 GT3 or Turbo for the $ your 993 will bring Hi Josh Sorry for the delayed response, working in China at the moment. Will let you know soon what will be replacing it. I would have liked to keep the 993 but I just cannot justify to myself having 2 cars for play when I really only do about 2500km per year currently in the 993. Just don't have the time to look after 2 properly. Would rather see it go to a good home where it will be enjoyed.....
DJM Posted 16April, 2015 Report Share Posted 16April, 2015 Very happy to see that T. Once I get my mid year commitments out of the way mine will most likely come onto the market.... Chris, by the look of your car i assumed it would be a "lifer". Should I read anything into the Cayman GTS test drive thread? If you do sell, price it "up there" it's a lovely looking machine. Apogee Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 What is "wrong" with this 993? It has been on sale for a long while. D-banger Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 What is "wrong" with this 993? It has been on sale for a long while. Too expensive? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1996/SSE-AD-3168905/?Cr=4 It seems to tick all the right boxes, including the later Varioram engine and lowish mileage. I know the rear wing is not to everyone's taste, but it can be changed. Considering a higher mileage blue 993 advertised at $109k in WA and sold shortly after, I suspect there is more than meets the eye. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1996/SSE-AD-3087008/?Cr=19&sdmvc=1 Apogee
withers Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 Surely that wing thing is an easy non deal breaker! Must be something else as well? Edit just noticed Doug said same above. Apogee

I know but there's lots of ambitiously priced Boxsters on the market. I just liked how this one was advertised, good to see some effort go in. I'm still for the Boxsters, really great value

ByronBayChris Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 A purple 993 S Tip for sale at Duttons for $140k. The colour does NO FAVOURS for the car - I dislike the mix of external purple and internal blue. http://www.uniquecarsales.com.au/dealer/details/porsche-911-carrera-1997-26247594?base=1216+1841&vertical=Car&cr=3&page=5&eapi=2&__N=4294963765+1247+1282+1252+1246+1216&num=12&silo=Stock&sort=~Year
T-Man Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 Saw that one Chris and immediately discounted it My desirability list. The interior just threw me. If they get the coin they are asking for, then our friend Chris993 should be kicking huge goals!!!
Apogee Posted 17April, 2015 Report Share Posted 17April, 2015 Why do first owners spec up such awful colour combinations? Does the saying "Money can't buy good taste" hold true? I've seen a Cayman in Basalt Black with a Maroon interior. Urgh. Don't they realise that such colour combinations will make the car less easy to get rid of later on? tony1
