B)

It certainly is one of a kind.

The very rare 1973 Carrera Turbo Carrera RS 964 cabrio.

You don't see many of them!

Another car that somebody has gone to a lot of trouble and expense to reduce the value of.

it'll pass any test too - as long as it's not the 1973 Carrera Turbo Carrera RS 964 Cabrio test!

:D

Surely who ever buys that will be absolutely delighted with his/her purchase and the seller will be pleased too. Thus , everybody happy (except purists) , good situation  :) the world needs happiness!

I agree and hope it finds a home. My comments were directed more in terms of how the ad was written - you only need to see my car to know I'm not a purist!  :)

Hi all, been away for a while.

No link but I have a word of mouth possible sale on the cards.

1966 912 SWB. Aus. delivered total resto in '92 then parked for 20years.

Resto included 'off white' paint job (original colour is 'Slate Grey'), powder coating tinware, full leather tan & black interior amongst other things.

Matching numbers & apparently the 57th RHD 912 ever made.

Looking for about $35K

I will be inspecting the car on Friday & will take pic's to post here.

Any thoughts?

IMO when cars get this old the most expensive resto work can start to become the bodywork rather than the mechanicals.  So my thoughts are to check for rust.  If too much rust then walk away, or be prepared to dig deep into your pockets, unless of course you are very handy.  Enough rust will cost you just as much to repair as a early 911, but the 911 value after resto will be much higher than the 912.  IMHO.

Hopefully it was parked in the middle of a dessert for those 20 years.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing the pics.

Just for information I don't believe the 57th claim

They started making 912 in 65 and there was many RHD built before MY66 VIN would be interesting.

Re the RHD 912. I'm thinking Slate Grey had a red interior, not tan? Custom ordered perhaps?

Needs to be returned to Slate Grey anyway. I'd love to do mine that colour, but being a bit of a purist, it has to be the original Black.

Look for pan rust, A pillars at the bottom, battery tray area, sills, etc etc

Take a phillips screwdriver and poke at the areas above. Not too hard, or you'll have to buy it anyway
