So the McQueen connection is worth about $1.7-1.8m on top of the car; here's a 17,000 mile from new 930 3.0 that made $us160,000 at the same sale and was unsold under the hammer but has since been marked sold at $us175,000.

An '87 with 47,000 miles sold for $A110,000

There might be some heat coming out of the 930 hype....(?)

930s are beautiful cars, but a lot were made. Essentially in production for 14 years with over 20,000 made so not exactly rare. Probably a bit of over supply in the US because those prices are good. Mind you the 3.0l you mentioned sold for $175kUS (see bellow), which is nearly $240k aus, so still a bit of heat considering as these were $40k a few years ago ;)

Are you making a comparison between McQueen & Crowe? (Cough*)

did think about Eric, but isn't he more of an Aussie muscle car guy? Probably owned a 944 at some point though..;)

Bana has a good history of Porsche race cars, first time I met him was at a PCV event. Apologies for getting the thread off topic! :)

What's  the difference between Steve McQueen and Russell Crowe?

One is really cool, car nut and could act.

The other is from New Zealand

I think Russell would beat Steve in any phone throwing competition,no doubt!

The difference is that Russell doesn't as far as we know have quite the dark side as the other

In person, McQueen was a short, boorish man of few words — sometimes choosing to communicate only in grunts.

Hero on screen only

To most of us the 'on screen' is the only McQueen we know..............He was and still is 'The Man' IMO - Although I do think Bruce Willis is pretty cool............:D

Glad we are still on topic Mr 'T'! :)

Makes you think. With all these backdates maybe all we need is a decent 930 import, re spay the exterior grey, back date spoiler and you basically have an amazingly cool car. That grey looks amazing. Maybe need to re look at all those lemons on car sales. With no intent of being original they might be good options..

What's with the ? Chuck?

There's footage of Eric Bana racing a Porsche at the beginning of The Beast. Think he crashes or blows it up from memory

Dreaming of an all grey garage right now

The colour of caution and compromise, diligent greys search for composure and peace and often work hard without reward. Older Greys like life to run on an even keel with few ups and downs. Young Grays may be withdrawing from life and suppressing their personalities. Greys often have good business ability and tend to work too much.

 True to type?
