Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

SOLD!

Barn find!  Dirty, spider webs, but underneath a really solid shell and a hydraulic tipping tray.  When I got it my mate who is a old holden nut and panel beater reckoned it was the best HQ shell he'd seen in 20 yrs!  Originally listed for $3K.... Got a bit more though

SOLD!

Sweet - eventually found the ad - hoping somewhere between $6k and $8k?

No 100k Porsches being sold this fine morning for 30k, no barn find 959s , No mistakenly forward dated 73 Rs's lurking with the wrong wheels on them.

No 928 sharks caught in the shark nets in the beach suburbs

Not even some of those GT3 tuned.. carrera cars with the tiptronic - rare 996 kits.

Damn!!! Whats a man to do on a rainy Saturday morning here on the coast.

I wonder would Viper Green Minilites work on the Escort as a color scheme

930 Turbos Anyone Anyone

You could have one off the wrist. Pick up your TV remote & go cafe racing with the 24 heures du mans du latte .

Or go for a drive - bit of rain doesn't stop those Le Mans heroes!

It would be a '96 MY wouldn't it?

There is not much happening in the 993 market with much blood rushing to heads and deluded views of value but little cash actually being exchanged.

Reggie's old but similar mileage C2 has been hanging around at $135k for some time: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1996/SSE-AD-4081160/?gts=SSE-AD-4081160&gtssaleid=SSE-AD-4081160

A higher mileage non-varioram C2  has been offered for $98k like forever.

Appears the market normally prefers the C2 over the C4 by about 5%

Then there's the vexing country of delivery issue. Discount by 10%, 20% or if it is absolutely mick mouse, it would be the highest bidder and bugger where it comes from!

I don't think anyone will be able to advise you a fair price as the market is so fractured and so little sales are occurring and it going come down to how much they want to sell and how much you want to buy.

Offer him $90,000 and see whether he still talks to you..

Or better yet, suggest he auction it say Shannons and lets see what the market says.....:)

Diamond,

What's it look like underneath?  If it's clean as it is on top - not ravaged by salt for example - I reckon the price isn't too bad at all.

My son's just got back from 3 weeks in England and the talk is that if there is a Brexit , German car prices may "double".

Whilst I can't see that quite happening , the used car market may prick up it's ears for tasty collectable RHD Porsches - or not , if the economy dives.

In general , used Porsche 911 prices are falling - there's no doubt about that. Just perhaps they were overpriced to begin with?

German car are crazy cheap over there though. When watching Top Gear, I know the price they quote in Pounds I need to multiply by 3 to get the price the same car would be in Dollars here. That is way more than the exchange rate...

brexit, if it happens, will change zero about Porsche prices.  There will be a change in gbp value but up or down is hard to say.

talk of a recession is just typical politician bs- for a start it won't happen immediately and second any trade deal will be pretty neutral.  U.K. Is an important market for Europe exports and vice versa.  I only know one guy doing a position on it and he is long because he reckons brexit is priced in.

Had a look at the entrants for the next Shannons auction yesterday, 993 TT and a lovely little 356.

993 is dark blue with dark blue interior, carries SA plates in a Weltmeister plate holder and has 105k on the clock. Plenty of stone chips on the nose and some minor cracking / crazing on the front bumper behind the reg plate. Has new brake discs still with stickers on them, sounded very fruity when they moved it across the floor.

356 is very pretty, few bubbles in the paint on the bonnet and a minor rust bubble on the base of the passenger side front wing but other than that it's immaculate, really stunning looking car.

Personally I'm more interested in the Mk1 RS1600  and the immaculate 840Ci Beemer. You could eat your dinner off the underside of the Beemer, someone's really looked after it, plenty of protective film covering the nose and a-pillars and only one blew in the paintwork, a scratch on the boot lid that's been badly painted over (about the size of a thumbnail).

Condition reports should be up in a couple of days, the chap was doing them on Saturday when I was wandering round. My Dad's over from the UK and he loved the Jag XJR, despite the interstellar km's and rooted paintwork ! I think the lack of rust was the attraction....
