Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

That car has been on the market for several months now at least. I am pretty sure he wanted mid 40's when it first went up. Kms are what has held it back in the past, but I think now it is on the money.

There's a lot to be said for a well presented car and good photos - looks like a bargain as a consequence.

Certainly would be cheap entry to porsche-dom

Almost seems too cheap, particularly for a manual coupe even with high kms. Would have thought closer to 40.

I've read on some other sites that air kits on the 996 like the Evom can reduce the lifetime of the engine so I wonder how long it's been on there for. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would.put this in the "slightly" modified category ....

http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-911-1982/AGC-AD-17334564/?Cr=57

That would be undrivable on anything but a smooth racetrack. Could you imagine hitting a speed hump, or God forbid, one of the Heritage Listed potholes in Byron Bay

Being heritage listed, at least the pothole would get fixed if it was damaged by this wonderful machine ... wonder if you could convince them to fix the car as well ....

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum.  Been enjoying reading your posts a lot.

I am looking for an air-cooled 911 coupe.  Has anyone dealt with this dealer in Melbourne before?  Doesn't sound like they are Porsche specialists.

http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1994/OAG-AD-829506/?Cr=3

It reads like some work has gone into this car but the ad is missing vital photos of the interior and engine bay.

Thanks.

I don't know this dealer and guess they aren't Porsche specialist, but Weltmeister (who did the $14k work they talk about) are one of Melbourne's best know independent Porsche specialists, maybe they might be able to give you more details on what they know of the car?

This has been for sale for a long time.   Also, no interior shots - just exterior at odd angles.

Off topic.....Does everyone realise that I thought Caledonian and Cal were the same person.....just like this new user BBC and I can now be one and the same.

Thanks Scott and Chris,

I called Weltmeister and things seem to check out.  Who would you recommend for a PPI in Melbourne?

I didn't realise the ad has gone stale already.  I wonder if it is a price or condition problem or may be because it is a tip. Has anyone in Melbourne seen it in person?

Hi ByronBayChris, I should have added some random numbers to my initials.  Did't think. There seems to be no easy way to change my user name under my profile, once registered.  Maybe the administrator can help changing my user name so as to avoid potential confusion down the track.

Weltmeister or Jocaro are two places. When is the car?

Re the name, leave it. I might sound intelligent for a change when you post things.

Nice looking car! Some say that a midnight blue 993 is the height of good taste in motoring circles.

It is interesting that the engine "rebuild" they describe is actually just an engine drop, the replacement of some seals and a decoke.

Talking to Weltmeisters and getting a PPI will set you up nicely to make them an informed offer lower than their asking price.

Good luck!

Peter

Or ccmps.com.au, or Motion Automotive, or even Porsche Centre Melbourne which is only down the road from where they seem to be located..

The dealer's name is: Melbourne Motor Company.  They are sending me photos of the interior and engine bay for the 993.

Has anyone dealt with this company?  A quick google search on customer satisfaction turned up nothing.  They sell used European cars.

Since a seller almost always has information advantage over a buyer, I am quite particular about dealing only with really honest people as I will almost certainly lose otherwise.
