Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

The photos are poorly exposed and probably make the color look worse than it is - other than that, anyone else know why this Targa hasn't sold?  If it's a good car, then the Targa part wouldn't deter some from buying it.  Or is the overall yellow + the interior color + Targa that is going against this one being sold?

I love it, if I was to get a targa it would be in a great 70's colour with an amazing 70's interior like this.

The question is which direction to take it in?

I think those Targas above are just gorgeous!   And I'd totally go for the one thats on Gumtree, providing no nasties like rust etc.  Lose the tail, keep the cookies, keep the silver hoop - its perfect how god ooops i mean Porsche created it :D :D :D

Here's a pic  - this is '70s retro perfection, its meant to be crazy colored - its the '70s man!

Given the poor exposure of the photo with the blown highlights, it's hard to tell what shade of yellow it is.  It look quite close to the Carerra above? Anyone know?

This one is in my neck of the woods if anyone was serious and wanted an initial assessment ..... I would be happy to go and have a look at it if you're not close .....

If it is the same one I have seen on PCNSW runs it is the same colour as mine, Talbot Yellow.

Thanks Ben. I am fairly certain this is the car you've seen on PCA NSW runs.  I remember seeing it in some pics in the Gallery posts on the website.

Look at this - this car has so much potential and that color is devine.

Hmm much better yellow with a decent picky

If anyone is handy with the welder and spray gun you might check this …..unfortunate UK acne Aka rust..   I would beat them down on price, I dont think im brave enough

Motor and mechanicals other than an oil cooler leak sounds ok.

Hi Im new here.

The white 3.2 here was originally for sale by the owner for $25k while I was trying to arrange an inspection he moved it to the dealer where they bumped it up. I have had estimates for repairing the the rust holes underneath at $10-$15k. There is also a receipt for a engine rebuild 6,000 miles ago that ckecked out with the guys in UK.

Good luck to someone else, this is now out of my price range with repairs.

this looks great. I think it embodies all the attributes of what an early 911 should be.. attractive, fun, spirited.. I think Targa's look funny with the roof on, but with the roof OFF, I like them better than a coupe.

And yellow is simply superb.....

$10-$15k to fix only the rust they can see, surely there will be more hiding...$40k for a UK rust bucket...what a joke

I since have received the engine repair receipts for the Carrera in S.A …lot of parts some 996 on the paperwork , that dont seem to go with the car … I honestly dont think its work more than 20k for parts at best… it has had some rings and valve seats done , and it had tensioners and some other stuff done .

This work was done in 2008 and its done 8k miles since…hmmm

As for the rust, jacking points , side seals, headlamp areas,  suspension mounts , the seam where engine catch  isand door pillars- not sure what its called , all bubbled.

As I said all a bit scary.  I was told the owner paid 65k for it ouch , still dont make it worth much..

I will say the dealer is very genuine and transparent

$2k price reduction (plus some new pics), why has this not sold? Is the market that slow for 928s!!?

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1981/SSE-AD-3038405/?Cr=4

There are currently some nice cars listed, but are any selling??

It does look good in the pics, for a 34 year-old car.  But - it's in WA and probably a UK import (miles (105,000) quoted in text.

Could be, but don't most UK imports have mph-km/h speedos, this one is straight km/h??

Maybe WA distance is the killer?

S4 looks nice but again in WA and only $17500? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/doubleview/cars-vans-utes/1987-porsche-928/1075574416

Has anyone posted this Black-on-black wide-body with included turbo parts ? I initially thought it was a car I'd seen a few months ago, but seems to be different

It feels like there's a bit of drought of basic 996's for sale atm, either that or the prices have gone back up above the range I normally look in.
