Guest Posted 27June, 2015 Report Share Posted 27June, 2015 classic. Was $75k, went to $69k now wants $76k. I offered him $57k fraz has seen the car. Bit of an oil leak (don't they all) and sun roof doesn't work from memory. Don't know why he hasn't been able to sell through. The only 964 on car sales for a while now. Color, for sure.I like Guards Red.. Maybe it may be too eye catching. Is there any word on rust? The sellers description sounds rather attractive. clutch-monkey Posted 27June, 2015 Report Share Posted 27June, 2015 I can't get out of my mind why this car required a full engine /gearbox rebuild at only 113,000km? The latest 911& Porsche world calls them "bulletproof" (again) .i suspect when you don't drive them the seals etc degrade..drive them and no worries. turboT Posted 28June, 2015 Report Share Posted 28June, 2015 73 2.4 targa about to hit the market at CTS. Judging by a Bonnams recent auction of a 74 coupe a price adjustment for this car will no doubt be in order.
GusTV Posted 28June, 2015 Report Share Posted 28June, 2015 (edited) No doubt CTS tax but bonhams car quite extraordinary provenance! Edited 28June, 2015 by GusTV

Judging by a Bonnams recent auction of a 74 coupe a price adjustment for this car will no doubt be in order. I saw this yesterday at CTS. It's in very "original" condition. Forget what exactly they were asking but was well north of $100k. Cheap compared to the '73 RS... $1.3M...On a separate note, can someone here please buy the mint E34 M5 with just 25,000km they have for $57k.http://www.classicthrottleshop.com.au/classics.htm

Rob Posted 28June, 2015 Report Share Posted 28June, 2015 128k for an E28?? Decimal point is in the wrong place, surely? You'd have to be a severely committed BMW fan to consider that...

And it hasn't been driven in 2 years. Hope the coolant is fresh. Edited 29June, 2015 by tazzieman

MFX Posted 29June, 2015 Report Share Posted 29June, 2015 That 904 at CTS looks fantastic if it is original. That would have to be right up there.

Or of course leave as is and just fix up. LHD might bother some though plus 20k worth of work to be done too according to the owner. Still I think its a great colour combo and could make for a great buy.

Still I think its a great colour combo and could make for a great buy. Apparently it has a cracked case. You're doing well to crack a case on these things in standard form. Obviously has been either:A: neglected mechanically (what else is neglected on it?)B: thrashed within - no, beyond an inch of its lifeC: All of the aboveI pick C.I think this car is definitely a case of 'good from far'... I am going to visits CTS later in the week and checkout the 904 replica and the '73 RS. I wish I had spare $1.3mil for the RS :-) ... most likely the RS will leave our shores
MFX Posted 29June, 2015 Report Share Posted 29June, 2015 I thought it was too good to be true to be a genuine one (not that I could come anywhere near affording it).
