Pork Chops Posted 21January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 21January, 2017 Sat it in the sun for a while to get some more UV...Good tip mate thx. Home built has not been touched but I had a shot on an RC model yesterday so I'm keen again!and yes it looks like a rocket, but at least it's not red.All glued, and painted per P-Kay's suggestion. Came up really well.
Pork Chops Posted 21January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 21January, 2017 Engine bay, tire selection and (rear) wheel offsets, exhaust, mirrors, that clean rear bumper, straps on rear window. They owner is clearly a Magnus fan too.I wouldn't pick silver myself, but colour is generally a personal choice (as much as I've been pimping colours I like on your thread! ).RUBYSTONE!Pimp away! Those rims on the Rubystone car are horrendous. I think I'm off RS. It's the kind of colour I'd rather admire a lady driving, than me. Yeah engine lid slots are a cliche, wheels offsets are a given - if you can't offset, do not hotrod, mirrors I don't like - the Chartreuse car above is where it's at, clean rear bar is just the IROC bar, the reflector can be done a whole lot better (to be revealed), easy not to have number plate lights when there is no plate, and I'm 55 yes / 45 no on the rear window straps - if you're going to have them do the front too - see below. I do however like the black paint at the top of the rear glass - more on this later. And once again it looks very neat and love the 'bay.

vl gra Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 Those window straps look ridiculous!!! Looks like someone has gone out to the Hills Hoist clothes line and pinched some metal. May as well use tex screws as well to finish it off
Pork Chops Posted 22January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 Unless your window is polycarbonate I reckon no window straps! Yeah I think I agree. I think styling cues that do not have a function need to be dealt with very carefully because the line between wank and cool is thin and unforgiving. Those window straps look ridiculous!!! Looks like someone has gone out to the Hills Hoist clothes line and pinched some metal. May as well use tex screws as well to finish it off Well they just about are nailed down. I saw a real IROC car the other day that had a gurney flap on the rear tail. It was no more that 20 x 20 angle hit with a black rattle can, cut and bent to shape and roughly bolted on. The rear window straps looked purposeful but not that resolved, and I guess better than having the rear screen blow out in a race. I don't think they suit the silver car as overall it looks too soft to carry it off. They would be OK on some cars, but as for mine I'm not entirely sure. AD911S Posted 22January, 2017 Report Share Posted 22January, 2017 I had a lightweight 911 with plastic windows and I put those rear straps on , the ones from the rear roof to the bottom of the window At 110kph with both side door windows open the rear window was being pushed into the car by about 1 inch not out so took them off and never had a problem even at over 200 kph
Pork Chops Posted 31January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 31January, 2017 Now I'm getting excited. Took the first 'base' image and had the rest created to try and get my head around colour. I'm not going to name them as some need adjustment to get them right. Regardless of right one thing is for sure the 911 can carry just about any colour.Base ImagePhotoshops
MFX Posted 31January, 2017 Report Share Posted 31January, 2017 Chartreuse is a hot colour on an RSR.... just saying.(It was actually a toss up between Chartreuse and Gulf Orange for me ).

Pork Chops Posted 1February, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1February, 2017 OK so these are better and now they're labelled and you can see what they actually are. Order may be different so sorry about that. Olive doesn't work that well and I think isn't on the list anymore. Sahara is a little too rich, and Miami is too dark (my fault I supplied a dark image) but everything else I'm fairly happy is right enough. You'll note the Smyrna Green has 3 renders as it reads very differently in different light. They are all the same colour but different cars, different cameras and different light and therefore each of them represents what it might look like. Given it's a rare and old colour it's hard to find lots of images to varify.

neill Posted 1February, 2017 Report Share Posted 1February, 2017 I'm really liking the Sahara Beige, something I didn't think I'd ever say. But it suits the shape so well.
