Suspect it is also a flow on from treatment of 964 C4.  But as I understand it difference between 996 C2 and C4 is not great at road speeds as C4 on a 996 only adds 50kg (964 was more like 100kg) and directs only 5 to 40% of power to the rear wheels (964 was I think normally at 31%).

Of course I own a C4 and have never driven a C2. But I love the C4 and the fact that I have never lost traction in the wet.

29,000kms. Apparently had 4 calls on it and sold. Pretty sure it had only come on the market today as I didn't see it on carsales yesterday. No IMS so really $73,000.

I saw it last week sure of it. Be scared to put more kms on it!

I estimate I'll be doing only a couple of thousand myself so this was going to be good buying. It could forever be The One That Got Away, like all good Porsche stories

Correction, still for sale. Right, is this worth the premium for the super low kms? Services are at a specialist in Adelaide:

2012 18,136 kms

2013 21,667kms

2014 23,917

2016 27,150 (but this was done at NRMA Caringbah!!??)

That last one puts me off and it was still 2 years ago but only 2,000kms. I don't agree with the salesman that looking for metallic bits in the oil is warning of IMS failure so I would be getting this done straight away, it's a small insurance. And I still have the issue of not having a garage for insurance yet. Grrr.

I agree to some degree, its a sign but by the time the oil gets really glittery its most likely going to require a rebuild.

Not a huge fan of that blue interior but great for 996 values if it sold for that much

Identical colour combo to my ex 996.   That particular blue is actually nice in the flesh, a bit darker than it looks in pics, and with Silver comes off a little more "lux" than dime a dozen black interiors.

Sold mine for $62k with 120,000klms - so this looks good value to me.

Definitely good value then! I've always liked silver and all the 996's I looked at had a blue interior

Glad about the colour, always found the blue in Porkas to be quite well suited. Nobody else can really get away with it.

How long ago did you sell?

@iluvbrownale Mike this might be one for you?  Price looks about right, kms not too high, IMS done...  Don't think this will last long

This example looks great, love the colour. Good price.

Cheers,

Dave.

Nice example, although it doesn't have 'GT2' rims that the description mentions (in the pictures). If they are OEM wheels they are SportClassic II

Does the bare metal paint job not suggest something sinister happened?

Was wondering when that would be mentioned... would make me very cautious..... why would a well kept car need a total re-spray!!

At least they're being honest but i don't think it mentions anything in the write up

True. Also a bit odd that they mention how good it looks and throw in crap pics!

My car has had almost a full re-spray prior to me buying, but that was because some tool keyed it.... would be keen to know this ones reason....

I'm giving the 'fastidious' owner the benefit of the doubt, it's a 20 year old car in a dark colour...show me another 20 year old, dark coloured car with 125k's and perfect original paint...

He's openly mentioned the full respray and provided pics in his ad. In the classic Alfa world pics like this are worth their weight in gold, in the Porsche world they're sinister. Hmmm.

If it's been done properly, which it looks like it has, it's an absolute bonus.

Even at 20 years i personally haven't seen a bare metal paint job. Could be a car that's better than new!

I've let the 29,000km one go as I've got some massive bills coming my way and another car being restored. This blue one is interesting as it's also had an interior retrim. Anyway, I'm chatting to the owner tonight to find out more about the car.
