hi guys, has this car been discussed? It just popped up on my Carsales alert but it's been listed for a while it seems...

UK 993 with personal mods....seems a bargain for a C2.  Has had a bit of reconditioning- RMS, clutch, shocks. I'm not sure what's normally required with these 993s.

Yep a few posts about this car a few pages back in this thread. The guys where saying it might not have air con which could be a deal breaker to some people. The wheels are expensive as well...

50k if it checks out ok is a great price!

Is it just me but for that asking price I would want expect a lot more detail in the ad regarding history, mechanical work undertaken ect…”sunroof in excellent condition” just doesn’t cut it for me..

Its at Weltmeister so I can understand asking a premium but as much as it makes me feel warm and fuzzy thinking that valuea are on the rise, I don’t think that we are at the stage of asking $60k plus for a narrow body 3.2

Its at Weltmeister and the premium doesn't make it reassuringly expensive - just expensive

Nice car and colour combination, Definitely no AIr Con as there is no Compressor present in the engine bay. To fit A/C you are looking at $5k for parts alone and then labour on top of that to fit it.

That said, its a nice car in the pictures and should not be dismissed because its an import. Being a UK car a very thorough inspection for corrosion in both body and Suspension.

Items to check are as follows :

  1. Corrosion
  2. Check Engine Light - can indicate valve guide wear and blocked secondary air injection ports, some people just disconnect the CEL so it doesn't illuminate. Expensive to put right properly.
  3. Accident Damage
  4. Steering Rack - if its leaking , a new one is in order, that'll be $5k thanks.
  5. Damage to the wheels, these wheels, if they are not knock offs, cost ALOT.
  6. Timing Chain Box oil leaks and Cambox cover oil leaks - simple to fix.
  7. Oil weeping from between the Heads, Case and Barrell interfaces. Expensive to fix.
  8. CORROSION - Suspension components Salt(UK Salted roads for ice etc..) eats Aluminium, Aluminium suspension is expensive to replace.

Get the VIN and engine #'s and I can check its identity, where it was sold new and what options it had.

Good price, I feel that the asking price is both fair and realistic.

Just bin that wing, its pooh.

Lack of air con is deal breaker IMHO.

But the RS rims................to die for!!!!!!!

Sport seats are a rarity in Australia!

Agree with most of what Wasser said. The CEL issue however is not a problem as the SAI circuit was only on US cars, not UK, and if I'm not mistaken the SAI was not introduced until the Varioram version.

Valve wear and in particular "valve guide" wear is a real bugger on these things.

Thinking about things a little more, my air con is out of action at the moment so for me it would be an issue and worth a little more than $5K.

However the wheels are probably worth about $5-6K to the right buyer!

I do stand corrected! SAI was US Only, however the valve guide wear can clog and coke everything up which leads to a CEL.

Hows your steering rack Theo?

Has anyone got any knowledge of the 993 Turbo that popped up on carsales today? Sorry but I don't know how to link it in. It's white, 110,000 kms, $117,900, in NSW. Has similar factory options to mine, carbon pack, sports dials, sports exhaust tips. No sports seats though. Some owner added bits I don't really like. The dash, and the RS bumper vents, but they are easily pulled off.

I'm trying to help a mate who's got the urge. It's not Jim Richards old Targa car is it? Justjames, anyone?

Interesting this one. I saw the car at Thornleigh in Syd about 8months ago. The first porsche I ever went to see.....and had no idea at the time.

When he started the motor I was porsche smack silly......hahhaha. This thing had the most aggressive exhaust note I had ever heard and being a 3.6L I was hooked. At the time it was listed for $43K........I could only offer what I had which wasn't enough.

Sadly the half cage and buckets seats have been taken out..............wonder what the true state of the motor is. Looks to be sorted in terms of handling.

Would be so sad to see something like that with a reasonable paint job deteriorate on a car yard :(.

Bought the car knowing the rack needed work. Was binding quite a bit.

Pulled it out with a mate.........pain in a C4.......and had a power steering specialist I know recondition it.

Under a grand and all good.

Only issue I have is the amount of bump steer because of the ride height. But that can also be resolved with $$$$$.

That's a nice car. Been on and off the market 12 + months. I drove it when they wanted $59k for it. It's owned by the director of the dealer it's at and therefore when serviced, no books or receipts stamped as apparently they tried to push the cost over other cars to hide the expense. So that leaves a bit of a bad taste, combined with it being a Tip I think it was over priced. $54k more appropriate.

You want everything! Must have been a nightmare child  :)

I semi-lusted after one of these on my walk to the bustop from primary school in the early 70s.  A local builder had one , and it was well used. Certainly there were no chrome "fuchs"

Amazing these are worth as much as a 911 but that's rust and rarity for you.

Yes, we've discussed it before Amanda: it disappeared in August I just thought it had sold but now it's back I've found I'm still interested.

After I made the thread I felt like I'd told that story before! Meh! And come to think of it, I think I have many a time! :P

Has this been posted yet? I like how the price ends in 914!
