TINGY Posted 6July, 2016 Report Share Posted 6July, 2016 Glad to see I got the 928 juice flowingAs for 930's yes they are flowing too but at yesterdays inflated prices still , thats artificial abundance for ya . Rare iI dont think so, nice maybe but rare not Meh, 930's, so yesterday, good to see the much maligned front engines getting the front page. KGB Posted 6July, 2016 Report Share Posted 6July, 2016 ...the GTS is the big daddy of 928s, 5.4 litres, wider body and the quickest (just don't let KGB know I said that!)I think all that is correct..... Yes, yes it is. symsy
tazzieman Posted 6July, 2016 Report Share Posted 6July, 2016 People are genuinely looking at 928s so this is an appropriate place to discuss them .The early 928s had a new Porsche designed manual gearbox that was not great , neither was the clutch mechanism. In Germany , only 25% of people specced the auto box...Porsche pushed the proven unburstable auto box made by Daimler-Benz , and partly because its rival market was the Benz 6.9L models where 93% of people wanted autos. The 928S was a major improvement in most aspects and the manual gearbox redesigned in 1985 ; much better in subsequent years. As usual I have several printed refs e.g. Excellence was Expected. I don't want a GT type of car, I want a more-nimble 2+2, so a 928 isn't really on my list. But... this is not far from me, I have a 928/944 specialist very close, I love the sound of the V8 in these, I would only buy a manual, and its just about within (purchase) budget. I've been watching it for about 6 months now, and am convinced I don't want an autobahn stormer or another white car. But...but...but... I need temptation removed! tazzieman Posted 6July, 2016 Report Share Posted 6July, 2016 Can someone please buy this?? I don't want a GT type of car, I want a more-nimble 2+2, sWhat sort of Porsche apart from a 944 are you looking for? Or would a Mini fit the bill?My auto 928 is every bit a sports car, especially when the 996s are trying to keep up You can even shift gears or just leave it in 2nd in the twisties and work on perfecting the driving lines.Good luck with the search for fast+reliable+cheap+2+2! symsy, ANF and michel

Didn't last long - not that I expected it to, regardless of klm travelledAgreed .... although they were very upfront regarding the engine rebuild needed sooner rather than later.Still .... if one was capable of doing the work themselves, it was a bargain and was never going to last long. scashin

Then you have the while you're there syndrome with rubbers etc. It would be much more cost effective to keep it wide body for the turbo look.I've got a thing for hips! hugh Posted 7July, 2016 Report Share Posted 7July, 2016 plus $500 in paint and materials, that is what it would cost me. plus i would then have a spare 3.8 wing for the 964.+ labour (providing @poli84 isn't doing the work himself). Labour is the most expensive part!
