Coastr Posted 22February, 2015 Report Share Posted 22February, 2015 Driving LHD is simple if you are a competent driver. It adds to the fun of being in something different. I have even perfected the 'get out of the car and run around to the parking controls and run back again' for the very rare times I have had to park in a controlled car park. All tollbooths are now automated so no probs there. Lots of unconverted cars since they changed the rules to allow LHD to be registered normally. Nobody converts them any more. The strong aus/us exchange rate brought in a flood of them, plus most japan imports are also LHD. They are definitely worth more left original and unconverted. There will come a time where some converted cars are put back. Also read the story on the increasing obsession with Chinese collecting cars. Also a LHD market. Aus delivered RHD is indeed rare beasts but the market that cares is restricted to Australia, if you're thinking long term about being able to put money in to keep it right, without throwing the money away. turboT Posted 22February, 2015 Report Share Posted 22February, 2015 Back on topic guys Help me find a 91 Mate you need to go into stealth mode. You've had some pretty amazing advice but too much chat on this forum and you are just increasing your competition
rminc Posted 22February, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 22February, 2015 I obviously need some info and advice, hence why I am using the forum. Increasing competition is inevitable. If someone wants one they will buy one.

If someone wants one they will buy one. Some really good 911 buying guides out there. Peter Zimmerman is my favourite. Not expensive and aimed at first time buyers. These books are a must have IMO. I am near Canberra if you want to borrow some. Peter M
GusTV Posted 22February, 2015 Report Share Posted 22February, 2015 Back on topic guys Help me find a 91 I wouldn't rule out contacting some of the independent Porsche specialists - eg. PR Technology or Autohaus Hamilton (to name a couple). They look after a lot of cars and might be able to link you with someone who is selling. Let them know what you are looking for and what your budget is. I dont think this process will throw up something that is a steal but it could link you up with a good, well known car. Otherwise get your alerts set up, have the cash ready and be prepared to pull the trigger without a PPI if necessary.

Dusty Posted 1March, 2015 Report Share Posted 1March, 2015 Back on topic guys Help me find a 91 I just hope you're able to 'Scour the market' rminc. These cars can always turn up at some of the most unusual websites/auction houses/physical car yards, sometimes regularly but more likely months/years apart. In terms of your Aus delivered requirement, I had the same until I found my UK import. as long as you complete your due diligence on the rust aspect (post '78 cars are galvanised so that's a huge plus), you wont look back. I never have.
Coastr Posted 1March, 2015 Report Share Posted 1March, 2015 Also handy if you procrastinated when looking for your 911 and missed all the affordable RHD ones Ja there is that to but no rhd was close to my LHD on the condition/price ratio at any point. The RHD 3.2s I passed on were still all more expensive. Now I honestly don't care and hardly think about it. I have become somewhat of a Lhd preacher though, a bit like people who give up smoking and then talk about it all the time .

poetry911 Posted 3March, 2015 Report Share Posted 3March, 2015 This is a phenomenon know as RPPI ( rapid Porsche price inflation). In this case you have a combination of RPPI and LFP (lucky fucker purchase). The reality is there are actually very few LFP's around. These are just guys who immediately know what they are looking at and have the cash available to pounce. In this case he bought well bellow market value and now wants what it is worth. I recon I paid $25k under market value for my 930 only three weeks ago. Right time, right place, have the cash, Keep looking. I hope one day you 2 have a LFP! I had two LFPs in the last six months. Couldn't agree more with having the money ready and knowing what it is.
turboT Posted 3March, 2015 Report Share Posted 3March, 2015 I had two LFPs in the last six months. Couldn't agree more with having the money ready and knowing what it is. That would be a GLFP(greedy, lucky...)
SteamWolf Posted 3March, 2015 Report Share Posted 3March, 2015 There are very few LFP's in reality. It comes from hard work, years of acquired knowledge and not an insignificant level of risk-taking. Something advertised badly that needs work done to it and is in a remote location means only those willing to make an effort and a calculated risk will take it on. No luck involved. No luck involved. Only 3 weeks ago we bought a used boat from Gumtree ... should have been and still is a $18k -$20k item .. seller was in a remote location. To cut a long story short .... 4 hour drive there, 4 hour drive back ... paid $14k ... seller had bought a new boat and wanted rid of it .. Kicker ..... not in the advert .... $5,500 spent in January last year on Brand New engine (with receipt) .... I agree SteamWolf ... advertised badly and middle of nowhere ... See original post on LFP and you find I wholeheartedly agree. I takes a lot of hard work, patience, timing and cash ready to go to have a LFP. We should where the badge with pride!
