Oh well if he see's it in Miami it aint mine! I get my car out mostly on the weekends, its not my daily driver. I might have to go for a drive to Miami and see if there is another black 911 lurking about.

Hey Wayne,

Thanks mate!

Yes i've seen that picture before and it looks brand new like that! except a few things like the polished intake and pipes!

I did use your side for info on my car, a little weird but very useful! I'll PM you a couple of questions in a sec.

Unfortunately it doesn't look the same anymore!

The fuel rail fitting for the fuel pressure gauge broke so (for some reason, not sure why) we had to heat it up and ruined the finish on it, added a 3bar FPR and it was black so i painted (properly) the fuel rail in high temp black.

Ditched the piggy back, went with the M-Tune (rogue tuning) awesome chip set! IMO if you now had the option of your standalone ems on the yellow car or the M-Tune, you would have chosen the M-tune as with 2 little modules (optional) you can now properly tune the DME and real time Log.

2.5" IC pipes to a large FMIC, Garrett GTX3076R w TiAL .82 a/r all V-band. Made a huge difference from the 26/6 (went this rout because the 26/6 went and stopped boosting properly)

The cam tower paint started to peal so just recently it got sand blasted (taped up of corse) and repainted in the same way except i chose a brighter red and it looks quite good IMO.

ATM the engine is out because of a few reasons, a) rear main was leaking. B) Needed a new clutch, Not sure if you changed it, but it just didn't hold the power. went for the Spec Stage 3+ w aluminium PP, I've heard good reviews on that one only, the rest apparently are to harsh ect, couldn't find a bad review on the +.

Also the engine got new bearings and piston rings. basically just changed every seal possible, new water pump, belts ect.

Fuel lines to!

Also need a new head as the ceramic liners are broken in #2 & 3. So im waiting on an email from CEP as he and pat mentioned he's got a nice head cam combo that's brand new which has been sitting there for a few years. I'll see if i go that route though.

Not sure if you rebuilt the power steering rack but something there was leaking and not sure what it was so possibly it will get rebuilt.

Torque tube is getting new bearings also.

While the engine is out, going to fix the aircon leak as i can get to the pipe with the TIG.

I also mounted that fire extinguisher infront of the passenger seat (moves with the seat) looks good there, people ask if its factory!!

Yes i want to go to the Rennsport reunion! It would be good to catch up with you, Patrick, Rod (if he goes), Sean and Bruce. The 952 wont be there as i don't want to drive up to sydney again let alone with the 952. It would probably make it up no issues, quite comfy on long trips! but the 1:30 flight would be easier.

Here's where i'm at now. (put the head on to get the exhaust on to re-index the rear housing of the turbo, also put the cam tower and intake on to see how it all looks)

Hello All,

My name is Terry from Canberra, new to the forum and new to the Porsche ownership.

I have always had an interest in Porsches and my associations with the Canberra Porsche Club led to me finally buying into the marque.

My ride is a bit of a "Bitsa/hotrod" it is 1979 SC backdated to look (almost) like a 73 RS, it is running a 1981 3.0(might be bigger yet to confirm) with 40mm Webbers and S Cams, bolted to a 86 915 box and was originally a US import. The conversion is very good, has been verified by Porsche specialists. It isn't for the purists but it suits me to a tee ;)

I have had the car for about 3 weeks, currently awaiting headrests so that I can get it engineered against ADR's and re-registered.

I hear some of you are heading our way soon, I will make an effort to try and catch up when your in town.

Here is a link to some photo's (I hope)

Great stuff Terry.

Not enough hot rod 911s out there in my opinion.

Hope to see you in Canberra.

Welcome aboard Terry.

Good looking car. It's hard not to like the 73 RS look.

T Man: I suspect the lack of 911 hot rods is due to the high initial cost in Oz.

Thanks for the welcome,

I don't know too much other than it landed in Australia in 1999 with the current engine already in situ but with bigger webbers.

Since then it lived in Canberra for about 6 years then SA for a couple before the Zag brothers bought it in Sydney to do a backdate.

As they were moving premises they flogged it off as an unfinished project to a customer of theirs who sat on it for a couple of years until the PO to me bought it and finished it off.

The PO had it looked at by Michael Newton who changed the webbers and sorted out the timing. The original 915 was almost cactus at that point so the PO installed a 86 915 and redid the shifter bushings etc.

Whilst Michael was looking at it he discovered it had S Cams, my guess is the top end may have been redone in SA and possibly a bore out but this is just the PO's and mine speculation.

Michael had it on the Dyno with 145kw at the wheels, with one of his exhausts. The current exhaust has it producing 134kw at the wheels. Not earth shattering, but clearly some opportunity for improvement. I am considering looking into SSI's in the future.

It goes well and for the moment I am just focusing on getting it re registered here in the ACT, almost there..

is it a hot rod? probably not especially when you look at Paulys beast.

cheers

G'day everyone,

Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Melbourne, and an avid early 911 (69-73' in particular) fan.

I came across this forum whilst on my last foray in searching for 911's for sale. My hope is to buy a classic 911 in the next few years to restore and enjoy.

Looking forward to learning and participating in this community.

Cheers,

Sean
