Well done ,Nathan.

I love that car.

Glad the new ower of this awesome car is on the forum.

You got a great deal.

Great pic. :)

Turbo Time!

The reason it was a great deal is because it is an import. Was brought over in '98

My care factor is zero, its a Porsche and its in my garage thats all that matters to me :)

Turbo Time indeed! Have not owned a turbo charged car in about 10 years, Loving that surge of power again!

They are all imports, Nathan. ;)

But if that has helped with a good deal, even better.

That car you have is fast.

Even my modern standards, its a real sports car.

Love to see some more pics. :)

Well true, I was more referring to the fact mine came out of the factory left hand drive. :o

I have not had my right foot into it yet as the motor needs some tlc. Seems to be running very rich and hesitates from about 4000rpm at WOT. As this is my first Porsche and I am by no means a mechanic a visit to T&D Automotive in Brissy will be likely, unless anyone knows of a good Porsche specialist on the Gold Coast?

I started a new thread with some more photos here.....

Hi all, after much lurking on this site I'm now officially in the club! It's a 1979 Australian delivered model with 116 thousand Ks.

I drove it from Brisbane to Canberra over two days through roadworks, heavy rain and dodgy country roads and it didn't miss a beat!

On another thread I was debating whether to drive it back or truck it down, but in the end decided a long drive would be the best way to get to know it.

However if I knew the rain was going to be as monsoonal as it turned out I would have chickened out for sure, but I took it easy and we both made it home safely.

Right now it's in the garage with everything opened up so it will dry out.

Thanks to all who on the forum for your excellent advice, i'm thrilled with the way it turned out!

Hey AC,

Nice set of wheels. What is the colour?

All Australian-based Porsches really live in the best of conditions. We mostly garage them when not in use, love, cherish and fondle them, keep them out of the snow, no salt on the roads, no freezing temperatures, A little rain surely will not hurt them.

Nothing like a road trip to get to know the "other woman".

I understand that 70% or thereabouts of all Porsches built are still alive & well.

Here is a 2 million mile Volvo

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the colour is called. I tell people it's green but not Kermit green. Before I purchased it I checked with Porsche Australia and they tell me it arrived here green.............but didn't press them on exact colour.

Maybe Lindgrun - AKA Lime Green Metallic.

Congratulations on the drive back, you'll soon get used to it in the wet, just have good tyres on those Canberra roads and don't drop her back into second quickly on those icy Canberra roundabouts(360 rotations on call)

Cheers

Gday,

My Names Ian,

I´ve got a ´90 944 turbo SE (952) from the UK & also an Audi S6 Plus (the first car from Audi Quattro company, the original RS car) - the one the RS6 Plus pays homage to.

I live in Europe now but come from Sydney.

Was never really into Porsche´s particuarly. Always Holden´s in Oz...until i needed something to get around Europe in,

Found a write up in a Porsche mag in Takeaway shop waitng for dinner one night (expensive takeaway...) - the 944 turbo S is perfect for what i wanted - big, fast, cheap enough, fast, handles great - specially after new coilovers all round and a good setup.

I bought a nice black one from ´89 with M030 etc - but was a little worried about it´s oil consumption (have later learned it was normal) and also a sus looking, after market immobiliser...ended up selling that car to my mate in Hampshire England after he was minding it for a few months... he´s got it looking and going great - although he´s had a few issues with the immobiliser as i suspected...

so i bought a blue '90 model i´d looked at previously - with a factory immobiliser. I figured if i had probs with the immobiliser in Italy or Greece or somewhere at least the Porsche mech could sort it - maybe - instead of just getting a blank look & a loud `Impossible !!' with hands in the air ! as is so often the case in Europe.

A week later i drove it from Manchester to Milan - She stopped at the Dartford toll gates 530 Thur Arvo ! - dirty dizzy cap & button contacts then never missed a beat.

My 944 has been holed up in the garage for the last few years since i´ve had kids & dogs & houses but i cant wait to break it out again - I´ve driven her through France, Switzerland, Italy, England and Spain - still gotta get her to Germany and back to the UK sometime.

I came across the forum trying to help my old man who now wants a Aussie 911SC or earlier but is worried he wont fit as he´s quite tall and long legged

I´ll probably have quite a few more q´s bout 911´s as i´ve never had anything to do with them yet...but i think i may need 1 sometime....

Hope i can help someone out in future maybe - 944´s, visiting Europe or parts from Europe - let me know !

Ian

Good on you Ian. Sounds like you have had some adventures with your cars driving around Europe. Welcome to the forum. Where abouts is your dad situated, sure that someone can try him on for size to see how he fits !

Cheers

Chris

Hi to everyone on the Forum! I have just bought my first Porsche, a 1970 911T Targa, couldn't be happier there have been a few years searching!! There's some body work being carrien out by Zag Autos then it will be transported up to the Sunshine Coast. Does anybody have any contacts to touch base with up here to generally talk about these cars and pick up some tips?

Hey MH1, congrats on your purchase! I dont know the sunshine coast area myself but if your willing to drive into Brissy Steve at T&D Automotive really knows his stuff. I was in their a few weeks ago and the workshop is always full of 911's. He had a look over my 91 Turbo and gave me a wealth of info and advise. I will be taking my car their for servicing and repairs. Enjoy your new ride!
