Nice car, though it will be interesting if it sells for that sorta coin

That would be a PTS colour. Very nice.

You never know. Mines insured for 225k with Shannon's in the same spec with a whale tail. They had no issues insuring it for that much. They however would not go anywhere near that for my 85'. They did mention that they were aware the later models fetch a premium.

There was also a marine blue one that sold further back in this thread for $265k (I think) on chrome temple.

More recently, Porschaden sold a car identical to this green one, a month or so ago. It didn't even make online, it sold so quick. No idea what it sold for though, or any other info.

If anyone has any info on it, I'd love to know more about it!

That's an old one. Had a friend enquire on the red one, as he's in the market. Has low kms (85ish) and they want around $250k. I think a bit too pristine for him. I've been helping him look for months without any luck if you know anyone selling.

He did mention that the dated sticker under the engine lid was missing. Not sure why that would be removed unless the lid was replaced and then it begs the questions, why was the lid replaced. But apart from that he said it's a good car.

Might have had a bit of paint as there wasn't too many stone chips on the mirror and there was a bit of an issue with the passenger rubber door kick piece, but we didn't dive in to deep, as it was pricey and too tidy for what he wanted it for.

Have attached some photos for anyone who cares 😂

Anyone know what the go is with the holes in the support panel on the blue one. I've seen a few for those older alarm sensors, for when engine lid is opened, but 3 holes seems excessive. Maybe another reason?

Would that be the emissions sticker?

87 Targa coming up at Shannon’s, green on green. Drivers seat looks very shabby, be interesting to read the condition report.

Only a few chassis numbers away from mine

Makes you wonder what other jobs were deferred on it.  Presents well on the outside though.

Fuel tank for a start. Looks like it had a battery explosion! At least it has new rear sway bar drop links & bar mounts are intact...

Condition report is less than flattering, certainly some considerable expenditure required but consequently could be a cheap entry point.

A year later and this car's back for around $100k more than what it changed hands for on chrome temple auction site. Will it sell? Who knows.

Check out this 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Manual.
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1989-porsche-911-carrera-manual/OAG-AD-22694774

The green one above at Porschaden that sold was around $250,000-$275,000 a friend of mine was told when speaking to them ages ago. Top end rebuild. Apparently it sold to a Marty Fox that was on the block and the car was seen regularly on the last season.
That one and the blue targa at Porschaden at $180k moved very quickly.

Doesn't feel like these have really come off much compared to the later water-cooled stuff.

Good time to sell, or would you be crazy too.

I had a moment of weakness and test drove a 996 GT3 earlier in the year, but just couldn't part with the 3.2. Spent alot of time thinking about it, kind of felt like a no brainier, but ultimately just prefer the 3.2, even as amazing as the GT3 feels and drives. Just something about them won't get me over the line. Amazing car to drive with the CS package. Might regret it down the track, who knows.

Depends if you are going to be on track with it or on road. If track a 996 gt3 would be a better option. For the roads I’d have a well sorted 3.2 any day.

Definitely road use. Some spirited driving here and there. Don't think I could afford to track a 3.2 lead alone a GT3 at these prices.

Well, my 87 Targa just turned 140k on a trip to Tassie a couple of weeks ago, 30k in my hands since pulling out of its 20 year slumber 8 years ago. Have to say, my prep for the 3 day / 1400km was to pack some stuff and stick the key in the ignition, it’s always just been dependable and we’ve been lucky I guess. Did get me thinking on the way back to Devonport though that maybe it’s time to get off my arse, swap it for a 964 C2 and try something else. Pick one up from the U.K. next year, have a summer holiday with it then bung it on a boat. Question is, can I be bothered dealing with the buying public, my patience for time wasters is non existent!

Maybe I’ll start by giving it a wash from the trip 🤣

I've seen you drive in the Adelaide hills @Mike-S, and you don't need a 964 mate

Keep the Targa 👍

😁

That popped up in my Facebook memories a few days ago, yours, mine and Andrew’s green car outside the village shop. Great trip over that one, should do it again 👍
