Yikes! Nice move symsy, I don't think I have expanded my 'max price' to that level before. Are you bored?

I think these guys both Mr white and Mr green are testing the bubble mode on the new Carsales app

What is it with Viper green and wild expectations , scare is the latest most used term over visceral

Very Very Bored , im considering Alfas , more Ford Escorts and some .  I can buy them for the outright vs someones inflated idea and the negotiation room  that they are still packing in their aircooled prices these days. The market just really aint there... some lovely cars but really I reckon we are at a 20-30% soften point, which is where it should stay and some of these prices just need to get adjusted.

Can I just say... it may be rare but this old Porsche aint $288k worth - we're going from ridiculous to ludicrous!!

As@symsy says, 'testing the bubble' ... is a nice way of saying... "they're off their rocker !"

This things up for sale again! Optimistic pricing this time round

Oh man - if they get anything close to that it's a massive win.  If anyone's tempted, flick me a pm.  I had a really good look at this car before it was sold to the current owners (who have added a few things).  I still kind of like the exterior styling, if not the current price tag.

Edit - looks like it's on to its second owner after I'd last seen it.

ME 3   I have a million photos somewhere and was all  over it , at half that price... I would pay that

Lots of money spent , has to be your cup of tea , but not much put into on mechanicals , just for mainly an artist to screw with it ..

Many of the artist touches are also getting very diluted

I quite like it , its original.. done for the advert and prize..

At what price is it a prize ?

I hate to disagree, and to be honest, Im not sure what your going on about...

The car is priced very fairly (assuming its as described). These have been fetching between 180,000 and 320,000 euro's over the last few years. There's a few for sale in the US, (they were never sold there) in the high $200,000's to mid $300,000's.

Build number's are similar to the 73' RS and they have the same running gear. Look at the prices of 73 RS's...

Agree - mechanical bits stock when I saw it, the rest was down to personal taste.  I couldn't handle the bs of the bloke at the workshop where it was stored (the same as a 2.7 rs maaate) & a few other things but it was a close run thing (from memory listed in the 70 - 80k region...but my memory's not so great :)

I'd welcome it @ 60.... would love to see a 3.6 in it to round out its unusual look.  Cmon Symsy.....if anyone can get them down you can.

I have a 3.8 RS Spec built 993 motor , that would make it very interesting .. Im not sure I could offer 60.. thats more than 50% off thats just not nice ;)

Swear that car was advertised 4 or 5 years ago at around $45k. Nice little earner if it is

Did you notice that the ID Plate has it stamped as a 911 SC - was this normal for a '74? I reckon this would be before SC's were even considered.

But nice looking car for a crazy price. I have had a few cars from HK & believe me there is a rust issue there too (about 75% of UK rust).

Sure - but 145k is pretty strong (unless there's been a bit of work done on the oily bits).  Any plans for the 3.8 motor?  It'd liven up pretty much anything...

A lot of work went into it, yet.....oh I can't be bothered sugar coating it for the delicate people.....its ugly, and they were stupid to build it, and now this owner is asking a ridiculous amount of money for an ugly customised 911

 There, I said it ???

What's a clean 3.2 with just under 200kms worth? No top end rebuild. Paint is good, but full respray. Australian delivered with up to date books. I was ready to pounce at 100k, but hesitated because of timing and the seller has come back to me at 95k now.

Have you bought this yet?

To be honest I wouldn't be using carsales as a guide for pricing. Most sell bellow what they were advertised for anyway. I purchased a very tidy 88 model recently with 165,000kms for a little less than 95k. Going by whats listed on carsales you'd think they're worth $130-140k. The reality is very different. Also if you pay attention to the cars listed very few sell straight away.

My advise would be to look off the market as Symsy has said. I went and looked at quite a few cars listed on carsales before I purchased mine all of which dropped the prices by at least $10k.

As for where the market is heading, I'd say the reality is we will see a decline in pricing of 3.2s and SC's (especially SC's). I purchased the car to drive and enjoy, not as an investment, so if it's worth $70k next year, so be it.

I agree that Carsales pricing is often nonsense but am curious about the rationale for your market forecast.  Personally, I'd prefer that these cars weren't thought of as investments in any event, but if so, a sample of one probably isn't emprical evidence...
